To my eye, the '67-72 Chevy C-series are the best looking pickup trucks ever designed, IMHO. They're just beautiful...not too overdone, but with enough curves to soften the hard square lines (most likely to make the body panels more rigid).

They were also a nice size....produced before pickups ballooned into huge behemoths. I don't think they got front disc brakes until '72 though... (would have been a bit of a disadvantage, I suppose).

@☠Grяrяrяrяrяrяrя. All I ever wanted was a Chrysler Cordoba...: It started as an option in 69, standard in 71 I wanna say. Disk brake swaps are cheap and easy, isn't going to cost me much around 300.

Upon further obsession, I think it's a 72, pics are hard to tell. 71 and 71 can be ID'd because 71 had the rear view mirror hanging from the roof like the earlier trucks, while 72 had it mounted with the windshield.

Looks like a solid truck though! It has it's rockers intact, unlike mine. Drip rails ain't causing drippage inside the cab either... unlike mine.

But, that color.... Seems so familiar!

My family had a 1970 for 30 years. We upgraded it to power brakes around 1990. Still was a beast to stop and turn. Very reliable. Had about 400k miles and one rebuild @ 250k. Still manual steering only. The only really weird part was putting the gas tank in the cab behind the seat.

Definitely a Man's truck. I'm a pretty fit guy and had to parallel park that beast going to high school. I was panting after. Can you imagine the soccer moms wielding Escalades without power steering and brakes! That'd get 'em back into lil' cars.

@BoomhauerTX: My one and only 3 point turn in my CST10 with out power steering made me promptly throw the power steering pump that I bought on a few days later. Just pulled it out of the driveway to back it into the drive way... I was panting when I got put...

Mind you my tires were all at 10-20 psi too, so you know. My rubber was causing friction

The later 'caps work pretty well, and the truck itself is in beautiful shape. Never really was a fan of the shortbeds, though - if you're gonna get a truck, get a more useful truck. And they just look a bit too short, too.

This is a very nice truck. I've never been a big fan of this body style, but as has already been said, this is exactly what a truck needs to be. It hauls your crap with a minimal amount of fuss.

I loooove the look of deep steelies with factory hubcaps. Okay, these hubcaps are from a later truck, but you know what I mean.

These are the years that had the outside the frame gas tanks. Lots of law suits came from these.

@Don Moore: Um, no. This one has the cab-mounted gas tank, right behind the seat. The gas filler right by the driver's door is kind of a giveaway. The "saddle" tanks, which 60 Minutes had to fake into exploding, were used between 1973 and 1987 and replaced the cab-mounted tanks. [www.autosafety.org]

@Mike the Dog: Mike, that wasn't 60 minutes, it was an NBC "News" program, and for the life of me, I can't recall the name of it. It's the one with Stone Phillips...... Dateline, I think.

Oh look, I just read that NBC just dropped Stone Phillips last May.

@Mike the Dog: But long before Dateline, another TV show (20/20, I think), did a piece on the dangers of the in-cab gas tanks that GM, Ford and Chrysler (Dodge) all used to use. I'm not sure whether it's worse to have the gas tank in the cab, right behind or underneath the driver, or in back but outside the frame rails. Seems to me either one is a risk.

@TokyoMarc: In-cab tank is > saddle tank, unless it's already leaking. The cab is much better protected from side impacts than the area between the bed sides and the frame rails.
