While we all know that you're right, it doesn't mean we can't be sad/complain that something so unique is going to The Crusher.

I, for one, would put a boosted-all-to-hell OM617 in this, if I had the chance.

I guess M-B felt that if you wanted to go fast, you'd upgrade to the 140-horsepower 220SE.

That, or put it on Nice Price or Crack Pipe.

Seeing that movie, because I noticed the trashed Heckflosse in the trailers, will probably make me mad.

Cars like this need to be saved from the crusher by any means necessary. And yes, I do consider running a W110 in LeMons to be "saving" it. This car's fate begs the question-- who out there is cool enough to own/drive a Fintail Benz, yet lame enough to let it get sent to the crusher?

Ive actually seen one of these at a repair place. I stopped, pulled over and took a coupla shots of it.
Nice car..
I hadnt though that FINS actually made their stamp on this beaut.
Now..
As for as 150 for this..
Definately. Decent looking, but it needs its grille back.
But I agree with most in here, what purpose would it have afterwards?

That's too bad.
Anyone else wonder if there's a real business model to be had in picking up cars like this at auction and selling them in various states of upgrade?
I've always had a dream of having a shop and picking up good bargains when they come along.
Clean them up a little, maybe get them running, and park 'em with a For Sale sign at $1-1.5k.
Then march down the line and drop 2-3k to get them in slightly better shape, halfway decent paint (or maybe just do the body work+primer), and put a price of $5-8k on them.
If you're doing this as a commercial shop/car dealership, you're not paying sales tax on anything and some of the title/registration stuff gets simpler.
Figure while I'm at it, the Missus can run a little coffee shop on the premises, because people will just want to hang out and check out the old iron.

Wanna pool resources? I'm fairly decent at spinning wrenches! If you find a location (I'm thinking it has to be one of those classic old '50s-style gas stations that was built on a corner with the edge of the building chopped off), sign me up. That'd damn near be a dream job.

And I have enough gear to recover anything.......... well, maybe not the Titanic, but anything short of that and I am golden.

It actually looks in better overall shape than the FIAF #1.
And how, after all these years, can those seats be so intact?
Just sad.
