I'm slowly coming around to thinking this is my favorite body style for the GM pickups. Stepsides of all kinds are made of awesomeness, but around Michigan they are so prone to oxidation that in the classifieds they appear with the obligatory rhyme "Rusty but trusty".

Diamond plate, painted beige. That's what all bumpers should be. The rims kinda work well, too, as odd as it sounds. Hell, I'd rock it.

@NovaloadMissesPolar: The Pop Inn has a quaint name dating back to 1900 or so, but there have been periods during which it scored pretty high on the Meth-O-Meter Get Your Few Remaining Teeth Kicked Out rating system. I think it's pretty nice now, though.

Although I prefer the delightful wonkiness of the '60-'61 Chevys, there's no arguing about this being a classic look.. and fairly common, even up here in Rocksaltapaloozaland.

What you won't see very often is a stepside, of any age or make- the fender seams are a regular Pismo Beach for tinworm northicanis.

This is the kind of ride that could really be detailed nicely. I like it. But then, I like old Ford and GM trucks anyway. So easy to work on, they almost seduce you into tricking them out.

Pretty. Spent the holiday near Roanoke, Va., where these seem to fall out of the trees. But the highlight was on Saturday, driving north of I-81: I passed a '40s/'50s Dodge Power Wagon in olive drab, trailering a gloriously rough Willys Jeep. No way I could get a shot of it, but it'll be a fond memory.

I spent all day yesterday on I-81, in the near-freezing rain and every third car was from Quebec or Michigan, the worst drivers on the continent (IMHO). Central MD back to Alabama. Seriously, the 12-hour drive took over 15 hours. I'm walking dead today.

@The Name's Ash78, Housewares: @citroen67: Quebec drivers are pretty bad, but any discussion of "worst drivers" on the North American continent that does not put Massachusetts at or near the top is invalid.

@Slantsick- on layaway at SPATULA CITY: I spent most of yesterday in Massachusetts and Connecticut going from Maine to NYC. How to make 7 hours last 11. New York State Expressway had a 60-mile traffic jam. Yeah, 60 miles. The highlight was seeing an aqua green Amphicar being towed by an Astrovan. Judging by the vehicle names, both were out of their element.

@The Name's Ash78, Housewares: Dudes, I would have put up a sign for you. "Exit Here for Cotomer Sevis" -- you were only about 25 miles from Charlottesville. 81 used to be a rural interstate; now it's wall to wall 18 wheelers just hammering at 85 mph or better. Lot of debate about how to correct this issue.

Awesome. Glidden Navajo White semi-gloss applied with a medium nap roller. That old C10 looks like my living room. Damn shame about the rims and the lame plates.
