The car itself is awesome (and has a 283/Powerglide in my mind), but I just don't get the whole halfassed "ratrod" thing.. This boat needs a coat of emerald green metalflake. And it's a Chevy, so I'm sure all the missing trim is replaceable too.

Why do I sometimes see these old quad-headlight cars missing half the lights? Do these people find high beams unnecessary or what?

@JB_Finesse: @Ralph Wiley, in sock form: I remember seeing racing Fairlanes - or Falcons, can't be positive which exactly - that did exactly that, gigantic cold air intakes pulling through where the inner lights used to be. It looked pretty tough, too - huge angry nostrils sucking in all the air like that.

@junkman: As someone who learned to draw flames in math class (independent study), I would call those some seriously good flames. Distinctive, consistent shape, very nice original-into-new-color overlap. And it scares me like any grinning, advancing form of evil. If only the flames dyed onto those easter eggs worked out this well.

I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one of these. Long, long ago.

Is this an automatic? The footwell is so dark, I can't see how many pedals there are.

Sigh. I miss the days when cars had actual hoods, as opposed to stubby sloping snouts.

@Novaload Misses Murilee: Wait until this weekend. I have Images of a 1961 Impala Sport Coupe (in Red) with every option offered by Chevy at that time. A/C. Power Windows, Power Bench Seat, Power Brakes, Power Steering, and of course, the Turboglide Automatic. While the engine isn't the 409, it is bigger than the 289.

Oh, and sitting right next to it is a 1964 Impala Sport Coupe, in Light Blue, only this one is a little less optioned. It had a 230 Six, and a Powerglide!
