The ZIS wins with me because of it's lack of hubcaps in the photo. That's the kind of attention to detail which allowed a wingbat like Reagan to "win" the Cold War...
@Novaload: Hey hey! That's in Sweden! Our Yank car fans are blessed with a country big enough to hold the cars. The '59 Dodge is towing a '66 SMV, the classic Swedish "husvagn".
As nice as that Ford is, I'm gonna go with the ZIS because a.) I live in Florida and would certainly perish under the clear dome of the Atmos in the summer sun, and b.) I'm a commie.
Ho great, I clicked on the link to the article about the soviet cars and ended up buying a bunch of books from that website. Thanks Murilee.
(OT: I just finished reading your novel: it is a riot!)
the Atmos lets me live out my dreams of being a Speed Racer villain, while the ZIS lets me live out my dreams of being a Batman Villain... Well, with Batman there's less of a risk of dying, though you're guaranteed jail time (because he's BATMAN). Being a Speed Racer villain usually means your punishment is just a slap on the wrist from the law, but there's always a chance of dying in a fireball...
My vote is conditional on whether or not the ZIS-112 can be -amino-ized. That would be awesome. The Ford has too much additional bling to make it -amino-worthy.
@CraigSu: Of course it can be amino-ized. Wouldnt surprise me if the trunk stretches at least 5 feet along the span of the car... for all those anticipated Dead Russian Hookers.
Russians and design... hmmm
If you are an artist, then you think freely, if you think freely, then you might act freely, if you act freely, then you are free, If you are free than you are enemy of the state and maybe somebody could follow your steps, then we'll have revolution and we mustn't allow that!
Even though the Ford wasn't very practical (hope it had UV block and a really powerful a/c, and just how long would those front spike pods last?), at least it looks like it was styled by professionals. The ZIS is almost cartoonishly amateur, but in its favor would be a very high on-road intimidation factor. That gets my vote right there. Notice the odd multi-piece windshield on the ZIS coupe - they wanted to get that sporty '50s wraparound look but it appears that bending safety glass was a little beyond their ability. One wonders what happened to Mr. Rostkova - did he get medals and a dacha from Stalin, or was he granted a one-way ticket to the gulags?
The Ford, like many of its contemporary concept cars, takes many of styling cues from aerospace. The ZIS, like Russian production cars until that time, is derivative of cars from other countries. You can see a lot of vintage concept cues (think Chrysler Thunderbolt) in this car.

This is a tough choice for a campy villain.

It would appear Bentley recently cadged the commie car's windshield/A pillar/frame design for one of their cars.
