    @Taco#6 putting on the ritz: The ownership history in the book (picture 31) seems to disagree with the statement in the article TAI, the family looks to have bought it in '65 or so.

    I'm confused. Says it was purchased by the current owner's father in 1947, but the picture of the ownership history tells a different story.


    Am I missing anything here?

    There is a reason this car is rare...Shows how ugly and unsophisticated Ferraris were in the early days. That thing looks like a milk truck compared to the Alfa 8Cs, which were already almost 10 years old by the time this thing reared its gaping eggcrate mouth. This car looks like it should have been the factory test mule for the 166 Barchetta.

    @wonderbrad: You're absolutely right. The first car I built was almost exactly like this. I wisely recognized how unsophisticated it was, soon junked it, and gave up on cars.


    I wisely invested instead in slide rules and took a job as a telephone switchboard operator.

    I wish my Dad gave me car like this, he tried to give me a 1989 Volvo 240. When I told him I was just going to buy another car that I actually wanted, he donated it to "Junk for Jesus". Shows just how nice of a quality car he was trying to give me... I wasn't an ungrateful person just didn't want that bad of a junker.

    @DruDown: My dad promised me his '67 Newport Custom when I was 12 or 13. Then he traded it in on a used '71 6-cyl Chevelle Malibu.


    He eventually gave me Mom's '81 Tercel coupe.

    Somehow, it wasn't the same.

    2 litre, 12 cylinders? Those are very small cylinders... I wonder what the bore versus stroke proportions are?
