Bugatti pissed off a double digit millionaire and he's sueing them for what they did? What's the surprise here? I'm not ticked off at the guy who just got screwed out of half a million dollars or surprised that he's taking them to court to get it back.
Whether or not you have any compassion he's going to win in court. He paid a huge amount of money and they said "screw you, you get nothing and we keep your half million".
I really don't care who he is or how much more money he has than me, he got screwed big time by Bugatti and them taking orders for cars they won't deliver is the death knell for a company like that.
They aren't making anymore, and knew it, and took the order anyway and won't give the deposit back? Are you kidding me?

@Flathead Smith: See that? That's the power of numbers. Bugatti just lost SIX..count 'em SIX (sorta-quasi-potential-maybe-if-I-had-the...) sales. Take that!
@UDMAN If you're going to hate him based on assumptions, go all the way. Flame it up over the fact that he possibly made his fortune off of blood diamonds or something.
Maybe he held a fundraiser for crippled babies and used the money to buy (or try to buy) a Bugatti.
This is clearly someone with more money than brains, swimming in cash beyond his own comprehension, and isn't deserving in any sympathy whatsoever.
This is just the typical douche who purchases a Bugatti, or a Koneigsegg, or a Gumpert, or even a Lamborghini. I will make an excuse for a Ferrari or even a 911 Porsche, because in all reality, these are the Chevrolets of the exotic car world.
The sooner VW closes Bugatti and Lamborghini, the better.
@UDMan: Wait, what? What did he do to draw your ire? Sure, it's silly he wouldn't take the 2008 MY instead, however, that aside, I see no douchebaggery.
Just seems you're butthurt about not being able to afford one.
@smokee: In these uncertain and economic hard times, is it really a good time to purchase what is probably the most ostentatious car ever built? He probably had his people lay off a few hundred or a few thousand workers so that he could afford this hunk-o-crap.
@UDMan: Good job jumping to conclusions about a guy you know nothing about, other than that he got ripped off. If he can afford it, who are you to judge how he spends his money?
@UDMan: Actually, the Zekelman family sold off their stake in their family business, Atlas Tube, 3 years ago. Barry's just an employee now, working for the Russian company that bought them out. The family is very philanthropic and have given millions to charitable causes.
I don't know why he's identified as a Michigan resident, since he's Canadian and lives in a suburb of Windsor. The Atlas plant is in Ontario too.
Atlas was started by Zekeleman's father, a Holocaust survivor. When Zekelman junior took over the company 25 years ago it had only 5 employees. When he and his siblings sold the company, they got something like $3.5 billion.

Coz as we all know Windsor is the real Detroit. We like to keep all the riff raff in Detroit, have built it as a decoy. The real Detroiters actually live in Windsor.

Yeah, because the way to fix an economy is to not buy anything. Everybody, do your part! Uhhh... good job.
Udman, you seem to think less and less about your posts these days. Youre quickly losing respect. Why not assume he killed babies to buy it? What's the market price these days? Goh... When did you turn into such a troll?
This is the VW horror story that has finally put me over the edge. With the reliability issues and now this shabbiness, I am definitely NOT buying a 2010 GTI now.

Nice guy.

Oh and "To add insult to injury, Bugatti offered a 2008 model in place of his ordered 2009." Is there any difference?

Maybe Bugatti's some sort of Ponzi scheme, and the credit crunch means that orders have dried up so they can't pay off their newest investors.
