    @Ash78: Here in VA, hybrids can get a special license plate. It says on them "Clean special fuel". Seeing them pull into a gas station and pump the same stuff I'm getting, apparently in addition to being 12v, my car is also burning a clean special fuel.


    Who knew?

    @aurora40: If it weren't for California and a 50-mile radius outside of DC, the Prius would probably have no business case in the US ;)


    I'm not poo-pooing the entire hybrid idea, but to me, geographic concentrations like this have less to do with trendsetting and more to do with image management.
