if only it WERE a Malibu wagon, that would make some sense. leave the Traverse in place, let Caddy have the lone Theta with the 3.0 DI V6, make the VUE only available with the 2.4 + hybrid.
please, haven't we explained why badgineering doesn't work anymore??
@abgwin: Yeah, I'm not sure that I'd be interested in a Malibu wagon but it's a lot more likely than me being interested in a lifted, fattened up version of it. Is sitting higher really that important to people? It's not like most of these new crossovers have the trucklike appeal that originally led people to buy them over wagons.
@syrax: I'm with you - I'll believe 30 MPG when I see it. I remember a time when the goal of design was to shed as much weight as possible while still having enough room to sit in the thing in reasonable comfort. When did making overly heavy cars that appear absolutely obese become a winning strategery?
Somebody downthread said it looks like a turd, and I agree. A big fat turd crapped out by someone with distended bowels and a jones for pizza and White Castle cheeseburgers. Hey! That was a George Carlin joke!
@fodder650: GM tries so hard it make me cry. I want my (tax) money back. They should have 5 brands MAXimum. Saturn - Plastic everything, Chevy - Plastic for the working man, Pontiac - We go fast, Cadillac - All things luxury. Still working on what the 5th brand would be...
Having experienced 04 and 08 Equinoxes on a limited basis, I think it is safe to say that GM would be hard pressed to build something worse at this point.
Not a bad effort. Gets better mileage than the CR-V despite being heavier (thanks to the 6-spd?) and it somehow manages to look vaguely like an Acura SUV with all that chrome.
But I worry about the refinement on the 4-banger version. Many of the Japanese SUVs are designed around a single powerplant and tend to perform better that way.
@brandegee: The Rav4 this thing's up against has an adequate four and a faster-than-sane-folks-want V6, both lifted from the Camry. If Toyota can do it, GM can come close, anyway.
Some angles remind me of the Buick Enclave while others reming me of the Saturn Vue, I know they are trying but couldn't they have made it a wee bit more unique? I guess this will do.... FOR NOW!! DUN DUN DUUUUN

It also matters to anyone who wants to fucking see through the car ahead of 'em.

Agree it looks like it, but the 61 DeSoto grille was anything but succesful. Kind of like saying the 60 Edsel was a winner.

The '60 Edsel was a total winner with dragons.
