+1 for Chevy using the blackberry instead of trying to appeal to the iphone crowd.

That's pretty cool. I could see setting up the recharge reminder app on my Blackberry and assigning a ringtone. Say, "Feed Me, Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors.

This being a GM vehicle and all. I'd like an emergency iPhone panic button that releases the trunk monkey.

I'd think that remote locking and starting from a smartphone would be a neat thing to have. Since we're seeing keyless fobs so much now, just build the tech into an app. When RFID-capable phones arrive, it'd be badass to be able to code your phone to your car and have keyless entry, trunk release, remote start, and alarm monitoring built in, plus the car could connect to your phone for communication and entertainment.

@Jeb_Hoge: I don't mean to be rude, but, why would you need remote starting? The motor only kicks in if the battery is very low. (Although remote climate control would be nice. Heat or cool the cab before you get in)

Helpful Hint: If you're going to do a song about a car that makes people want to jam an icepick in their ears,
at least try to make it catchy.

@RoboRed loves his virtual G8 GXP: So did I. One of my earliest TV memories was back in the days when GM built a half decent truck and backed it up with that catchy tune.

I was actually under the false impressions that GM built better trucks then Ford. Then, I came into possession of a 1994 Chevrolet K2500 loaded to the max with a 350 and a 5spd. Then, after many thousands of dollars and hours of pain later, I bought a 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat and never looked back.

I'm not going to listen to it.

Heads up, GM - if you overdo the hype and the car isn't fucking FANTASTIC, you'll look like dickheads, and we'll be the infuriated taxpayers who kept the dickheads employed and overpaid. Play your cards a little closer.

When it hit the charts, Weird Al's song White and Nerdy, a spoof of Chamillionaire's Ridin Dirty, took off like a rocket. People called Chamillionaire and congratulated him on his great take on Weird Al's song. The official Youtube view count for Ridin Dirty stands at about 2.1m views, White and Nerdy is closer to 5 million.

Without even listening to the song, how long before somebody comes up with something that mocks it, and is way more entertaining?

In reply to Chevy Volt "Chirps," Warns Pedestrians Of Impending Silent Vehicular Manslaughter
After almost getting mowed down by a hybrid today (primarily my fault, but it was loud-windy today as well) I'm all for this.

If I'm to get ran over by a car, I want to be ran over by a car I respect- not a gray Malibu hybrid. That said, if I'm to get ran over by a car- I want it to be an El Camino so I can just get flipped into the bed and die happy.

This really isnt that 'new' of a feature. GM's electric car from the 1990's, the EV1 had the very same deal.

Because it ran silently, the EV1 had what was called a 'courtesy horn' - basically a low, friendly honk to let other cars or pedestrians know you were around.

It also had a standard horn, for blaring your frustrations at the Dbag in front of you driving 35 on the highway.

    Whats old is new again!
