Why isn't it out as soon as Forza? BECAUSE IT WILL BE THAT MUCH BETTER!
Also, just long enough for the 'I just bought Forza' to no longer be a viable excuse not to buy GT5.
Allow me to apologize to all those I told it was coming in december.
They did confirm 950 cars and rollovers.
I'm a huge MOTORSPORTS fan! I made a consumer choice to buy a PS3, because it is the superior machine. Gran Turismo is the best racing sim for my chosen console, so its my game. It's like your local sports team... they might suck right now, but hey.... they're your team. *Cough*Canucks*Cough*
For the 360 having a 1 year headstart, GT has caught up to within 6 months, and will have more content. Context bitches, context!
If you own either console, you are doing yourself a huge disservice if you ignore either title. With most of the consoles already in people's hands, are these games really in competition?
One more thing... I've been playing GT 5 for over a year. It's called Prologue, and it's awesome! The graphics and physics are top notch, and its online. The sim racers at the official playstaion forums, with my brilliant guidance (HA!) have developed healthy league racing 3 nights a week, with some of theee fastest guys in the US, period. There have been 4 official Time Trial contests, and racing friends of mine have podiummed in and won all of them. We qualify, so everyone finds equal talent on the track. We're fair, but tough, and our racing is of a high caliber.
We're not so different than you LeMons nuts (ok, we're not that crazy) We know you don't need a million cars and tracks (or dollars) to have a good time racing! We've made the best of Prologue, and I myself have organized our monthly endurance racing series. We've done 8hrs of Fuji, 12 Hours of High Speed Ring and The Daytona Road 500, just last week. A true 24 hr event was being planned for late November, as a welcome to what we thought would be a December release for the full game, but now we're focusing on mid length events to keep us occupied... you know, since we have some extra time to kill :(
I heard that the delay is due to them not being able to render an accurate CG Chrysler interior - that is, they can't get the PS3 to make anything look that cheap without reverting to 16 bit framerates, at which point the fan spins backwards and it ignites in flames.
The PS3 and Xbox360 went obsolete years ago. Both sides have nothing to brag about.
But I have in my closet the PS1 from the mid 90s and it worked last time I used it back then...Never had to fix it. My friend has burned through 4 Xbox 360s...FOUR red rings.
@IronicalBalls: I got my Xbox in December 2005(launch). With only one failure in almost four years, it has been more reliable than every other computer I have ever owned and had the quickest turn around from any service center. They also fixed it for free 2 1/2 years after I bought it.
@IronicalBalls: Did your friend get a launch model? Or worse yet, used?
My friend did that and went through like 7 Xboxes.
My other friend who got a new one had one ring, but his came back like a week after sending it back to Microsoft. Didn't cost him a bit. They're super efficient now about this.
March 2010, Polyphony Press Conference: "Well, everyone, we thought we'd have Gran Turismo 5 ready by now," Mr. Yamauchi reported, "but now it looks like it won't be ready for release until 2015, when the Playstation 4 Slim is being phased out for the coming Playstation 5."
Ya know, I don't mind all the delays, as long as it means they are producing a damn good game that is worth the wait. But at this point, it better have a road head mode and come with the accompanying controller.
@Scandinavian Flick: You can always masturbate while playing, just be careful not to turn the TV over, and for damn sure stop if someone hears the ruckus and calls the cops!

@superbadd75, with electrolytes!: You see though, that is the whole problem. Until evolution gives me a third hand so I can fap while drivi... er... gaming, I have to have someone else do it for me. If said person is too tired or "has a headache", I can turn to GT5 Road Head mode.
To put that in perspective, when this game started development:
- Chrysler was agruably atop the US triumverate;
- The Ford GT had not yet been produced;
- GM was ascendant;
- Fiat and Nissan were oft mentioned in whispers of bankruptcy;
- An Enzo had not yet been wrecked.
My how times have changed. At this point they should just release whatever they have, with a Stig avatar played by Duke Nukem.

The GT5 tribute features much nicer music and more satisfying views of the 458. The FM3 version wastes too much time on other models. While they did allow the engine noise to come through it's clipped and buried under the music.
The GT5 version has nicer graphics, better textures and reflections and a higher polygon count. On the other hand, there's something unnatural about it all, it feels too spare. And the cars are so excessively glossy they look like they're made of porcelain. It's apparent the graphics haven't been really updated at all from GT5 Prologue.
You guys know this is all hypothetical because most of the footage comes from pre-rendered shots of the cars? We'll need to see actual gameplay footage to make an accurate comparison. That being said, the Forza 3 demo is coming out next week. Sofar the actual, playable GT5 footage isn't nearly as awesome as it looks in the video posted here. There's been gameplay footage of Forza3 ... its been posted here, it was a red R8. I think the Forza3 in-game looks nicer and smoother.
There's a big difference between car-porn rendered on a bank of pc's and car-porn rendered on a ps3/xbox360.
@jbownsabmw- Koopas Beware: The GT5 P menu's probably rendered real time, although in a very limited virtual space. (less things to render in a nicer way)
@bens: It also probably helps that the GT5's vid is available at 720p where as Forza's is a dinky video.

Speaking form a pure surfacing point of view the GT5 car is much better. The paint looks deeper, better reflections, and the highlights actually flow pretty good.
In Forza's video the reflections on the side of the car are pretty rough (jagged) but the GT5 is much smoother (glass like)
