"When you get out to that track... whatever it is that's roiling around in your head, it just goes right out the window." That's coming from Paul Newman, a man who knew what he was talking about. This is the first trailer for Adam Carolla's documentary on Newman's racing career, and boy does this film look awesome.

The film Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman chronicles how the famed actor came to the racing world late in life, at 48 years old, well after he had established himself as one of Hollywood's top actors.

Not surprisingly, he was terrible at first. but Carolla's documentary centers on how Newman got bitten by the racing bug and didn't quit until he built a storied career at the track as both a driver and a team owner. Newman died in 2008 and was posthumously inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame a year later.

The film features interviews with Robert Redford, Jay Leno, Patrick Dempsey and others who were familiar with Newman as both an actor and a racer. More than just being about one man, the movie is about how speed can become an all-consuming obsession.

Here's the trailer. I can't wait to see it. Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman gets its official release on May 22.
