Obama-mania is spreading like a virus into advertising as Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" found in this Dallas Area Kia dealer ad for the Sportage. Of course John Stewart ridicules the spot, which features not only a likeness of the Illinois Senator but a rip-off his "Yes we can!" catch phrase. If this is the kind of stuff we have to look forward to during the closing months of this agonizingly perpetual presidential election, we eagerly await the "Bob Barr 'No Federal Regulations' Killdozer" ads. Our truck-loving friends at PickupTruck.com are telling us this morning Kia will be bringing a mid-size pickup to the U.S. market by 2011 and they've even put together a pretty little rendering of what they think it might look like. The unnamed new pickup is reportedly based on the next-generation, front-wheel-drive Sorento and will use the same unibody platform and V6 engine. There's even talk of offering an all-wheel drive version like the Honda Ridgeline. The truck will supposedly be built at Kia's soon-to-be-completed $1.2 billion assembly plant in West Point, Georgia, on the same line as the Sorento and a to-be-determined third vehicle. Tom "DJFriar" Craft, an eagle-eyed Jalopnik reader and tipster, ran into what appears to be the next-gen Kia Sorento while in Orange County this week. Tom was on the way down the CA-22, just before Euclid — when he caught the egg-like covered shape heading down the highway beside him on his iPhone camera. The cladding looks like the kind of cladding we've seen on recent kim-chee flavored test vehicles we've seen around town and since he caught it just before he passed the Hyundai-Kia development center out there and since it looks vaguely like a Sorento, that's what we're gonna say it is. Also, we're really enjoying the level of camera shots we've been seeing lately coming from iPhone users — they provide just the right level of graininess to make the shots look so totally, umm, amateurtastic.
