Looks like the lawyers may have gotten to the auction of Lindsay Lohan's former 2005 Mercedes SL65. The original eBay auction for the dinged up and now apparently fixed Mercedes was very clear as to the pedigree of the former owner. Mysteriously the car was pulled down from auction a couple of days after we reported on it, but It would now seem the seller has re-posted the item — only this time it's been wiped of all traces of the LiLo stain. No word on whether it's now been wrapped in one of those "sanitized for your protection" wrappers often found at budget motels, although perhaps that would decrease the value for the true collectors out there. One thing's for sure, our sources are telling us the seller remains true to their commentary the coke-sprinkled vehicle at auction is the former property of the celebutard — and we'll continue to stick by our "Cokeat Emptor" issued before. For you auto-lovers of the celeb-obsessed variety — who also happen to have $110,000-plus to play with — we've got an eBay auction just for you. There's a Mercedes SL-Class on eBay which the seller claims to be none other than the SL65 Lindsay Lohan smacked into a tree back in May of this year and in which police supposedly found a cute li'l bag of coke. So is it LiLo's Mercedes-Benz? Well, the license plate in the pictures does seem to be the same as that found on the back end of the tree-bashing German drop-top, but we also did a quick AutoCheck vehicle history report on the VIN and the only reported accident on the report comes from February of 2006. Yesterday we saw a very heavily camouflaged Mercedes SL Black Series running around the roads in northern Germany. Well, the quick-to-snap shooters at KGP have one-upped those shots by getting us some not-as-much-camouflaged shots of the same Mercedes SL Black tester as the car left the Mercedes workshops and headed over to the Nürburgring to get some laps in. Although we've still no idea what's under the bonnet, some have mentioned the CLK63 AMG's 6.3-liter 500 HP V8 as a possible choice. One thing's for sure is this ain't your father's SL — it looks more like it was designed for the father of this guy we've heard about named Luke from Tatooine. The spy report from KGP below the jump. The next Mercedes SL-Class looks to have some big changes on the way. In addition to a radically redesigned front-end — comprised of a big ol' new grille and CLS-style boomerang headlights—the new SL's AMG package will get what the folks at KGP are calling the "increasingly prolific" 6.2-liter V8 engine. The engine, when packaged with Mercedes' 7G-TRONIC seven-speed transmission, generates 465 lb-ft. or torque and 525-horsepower in the S63 AMG and in the C63 AMG, the same set-up provides 457-hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. The KGP spy shooters expect the new AMG "Sport Leicht" to be endowed with power ratings closer to the S-class, although their sources report "packaging restrictions" might limit those power numbers a wee bit. Spy crackers Hans and the Lehmannites caught shots of a Mercedes expected to issue a glovesmack to the Audi R8 in rumored V10 format. The duelist will be be based on the next SL underpinnings and be powered by the 6.2-liter AMG "63" V8. Natural aspiration, Winding Road speculates, could give way to turbocharging to make up any difference in power between it and its rivals. Expect considerable input from AMG's touring-car partner HWA. A hardtop and other bits of carbon-fiber could provide unweightiness to the car, which could revive the "SLC" moniker. Mercedes tuning shop Kicherer upped the ante on its SL-Class tweakage program. It's the SL K 60 Evo Black. Its moniker isn't quite elegant, but the car itself isn't a shrinking violet. The 12 banger's been augmented with twin turbos to produce 605 horsepower, resulting in a zero-to-60 time of 4.3 seconds and a (restricted) top speed of 186.4 mph. Holding the Evo's head to the pavement is a functional aero kit, while proprietary programming of the SL's adaptive suspension makes way for a 25-mm lowering. Is the SV12 S Biturbo the world's fastest roadster? Brabus says it is. We already know the boys at Brabus love to cackle menacingly when they take greenhorn journos for autobahn burns in their tuner Benzinos. But now, they'd be wise to consider shrink-wrapping the passenger seat on this tuner SL, which produces 730 hp from the Brabus-futzed twin-turbo, bored-out V12. With a wink, they'll tell you there's a limiter built into the SV12's computer that halts forward progress at 217 mph. They'll mention the billet crankshaft and remachining of the cylinder heads and size of their intercoolers as if to say, "wear plastic shorts." They'll drop bits of science like 973 ft/-lbs of torque or zero-to-62 mph in 4.0 seconds. And we'll go "holy crap," like we always do. Holy crap, indeed. More »
