The 24 hours of Nürburgring are over with the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Manthey Racing coming out victorious. Drivers Marc Lieb, Lucas Luhr, Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas put on a dominant performance beating the second place BMW Motorsports BMW M3 GT by almost four and a half minutes. The guys at Speedhunters have been obsessed with all things Porsche this month. To continue the fun, they got their hands on some awesome footage of Stuttgart's racing efforts from 1976. Of course, they weren't content to leave well enough alone, so they've given the film a modern spin. Porsche has updated their successful 911 GT3 RSR racer for 2008. Already the most powerful 911 based race car coming out of the Porsche Motorsport factory, the update boasts increased mechanical grip through a revised suspension and benefits from a swapping out of the 6-speed sequential gearbox for one more closely related to the RS Spyder prototype. The engine remains unaltered, producing 465bhp from its 3.8L flat six. More »

Goin' to the Spa: 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR to Make Track Debut

This weekend will mark the debut of Porsche's 2007 911 GT3 RSR racer at the 24 Heures of Way the Hell Out in Rural Belgium, or whatever the Spa race is called. It'll be the first outing of the track version of the homologation version of the recently revealed GT3 RS. The Manthey Racing team from Germany will run two of the 485-hp, 9,000-redline cars in the Group 2 category, and next year customer teams will have their shot at the 35 cars that will be built this winter.
