Now, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue it's not; however, it is pretty entertaining for a web application (which requires an .exe install, we expect to be deluged with Renault data mining efforts), and it pits your best track times against those who have gone before you. If the video game version is anything like the car itself, it'll sprint to sixty in about 4.5 seconds (which it won't), snap-transition from understeer to oversteer and brake like a maniac. The latest sporty Renault to hatch is the Twingo Renault Sport. The newest Twingo RS gets a whopping 33 HP boost from the most potent Twingo RS of yore, up to 133 HP and 117 lb-ft of torque from its 1.6 liter, 16-valve four. Combined with a 60mm wider track, 10mm lower stance, a set of stiffer springs and some bigger tires, it'll scoot to 62 MPH in 8.7 seconds and probably makes a pretty good dance partner at an autocross. Inside, the Twingo RS gets some style upgrades, but we're in love with the pedals — the clutch pedal gets a "pause" emblem, brakes get the stop logo, and gas gets the play symbol — how cool is that? New Porsche RS Spyder Race Engine Gets Direct Injection

Proving that road technology eventually filters down to race hardware, Porsche will be upgrading the 3.4L V8 present in its ALMS LMP2 class Porsche RS Spyder with direct injection. The technology was developed for the Porsche Cayenne and Porsche 911, and, given the performance advantages, engineers decided to back-hack it into the prototype V8. The old version of the engine turned out a stout 476 HP at 10,000 RPM along with 273 lb-ft at 7,500 rpm; the direct injection and obviously remapped fuel curve bump power to 503 HP at 10,000 RPM, and 284 lb-ft of torque at 8,500 rpm. Now, depending on which side of the fencepost you sit on, an inline-five with 275 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed in a car the size of a Focus RS, along with all kinds of fancy suspension trickery, is either a magical, amazing thing OR the obnoxious boy-racer bodywork rubs you the wrong way and totally ruins whatever genius lies underneath. Porsche Coming To New York, Bringing Three "World Premiere" Vehicles

Porsche just dropped a presser on us which has us scratching our heads. Any time we read words like "Porsche" and "First" and "Shown" in a press release, we expect the things contained therein to be, you know, Porsches being shown for the first time. In this case, that's maybe only partially true. In breathless verbiage, we're told all about the amazing new Porsche Cayenne GTS, Porsche 911 GT2, Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder and the racing Porsche RS Spyder. Problem is we've already seen the Porsche Cayenne GTS and the Porsche 911 GT2 in the flesh, the Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder has been both on the web and boring for nigh on three and a half months. And it would be a shock if the Porsche RS Spyder which has already won more races than we care to count wasn't pretty well known. 2008 Scion tC Release Series 4.0 to Debut at Chicago, Continue Software Naming Convention

Toyota just dropped a press release which has everyone running to their Tandy's and Apple ]['s to make sure it's still 1987. Scion will be bringing what's called the 2008 Scion tC Release Series 4.0 to the upcoming Chicago Auto Show and will be making them available as of March. The "tC RS 4.0" as the marketeers are calling it, will have an array of "VIP-themed enhancements" such as gray sparkley paint, a body kit, embroidered alcantera seating, fancy steering wheel and shift knob and special badging. Pardon our underwhelmed reaction, but it sounds like an appearance package only a 17 year-old-old could love. Detroit Auto Show: Mazda RX-8 RS Images Released Before Tokyo

Before the facelifted RX-8 makes its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, the facelifted RX-8 RS was supposed to show up at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Ford Europe Confirms High-Performance 2009 Focus RS

Along the same vein earlier of cars we're just not getting here in the United States, Ford of Europe just confirmed they plan to bring a new high-performance model of the Ford Focus to market in 2009, a Ford Focus RS. To go along with that announcement, FoMoEurope has apparently hired the same advertising team in charge of the reveals of the new Subaru WRX STI and the new Porsche Cayenne. But the car itself will be based on the new Focus ST and as we've already seen some pretty good spy photos of the new high-po Focus, we're not overly concerned about this new shot. Although Ford of Europe isn't revealing any technical details other than the car being "rally-inspired", one thing's for certain — it'll be better than what we've got on these shores bearing the same model name.
