Of course you knew Sophia Loren's spread in the 2007 Pirelli calendar wasn't going to be something out of oldladyporn.com — that was just tire-company teasing. As would be expected, Sophia's shots are tasteful (read: above the neck) and fashion-y, as are those from Hiliary Swank, Naomi Watts, Penelope Cruz and model who was born when we were in seventh grade, Lou Doillon. Pirelli released its first cinematic entry on Pirellifilm.com, "The Call," which portrays the epic battle between an exorcist (John Malkovich) and a devilish TVR Segaris that may or may not be driven by TopGear's "The Stig." Model Naomi Campbell co-stars as the Dark Angel, who appears in a slinky ensemble, designed by Gary Gygax, that's perfect for a day at the beach or evening exploring the fourth ring of Hell. Considering he can act a cereal box and be awesome, Malkovich turns in a face-saving performance. Otherwise, it's a long commercial. Surprise! More »

This year's nipple-studded Pirelli calendar, being printed in a limited run of 35,000, is a prime candidate for auctioning by the lucky few who've gotten their hands on one (we hear it's mostly staff, who get one each). There are already a bunch listed on eBay, bid to or buy-it-now priced from 100 to 300 tin farthings (or whatever our British friends use for currency these days), that's between $175 and $525. Some rumorists say it's the last one, thus the enthusiasm. That and the pics of J-Lo in a Leather Daddy cap. More »

Pirelli tires is picking up where BMW Films recently left off. The company has a new division, Pirelli Films, and has produced an online thriller reportedly starring Naomi Campbell and John Malkovitch — the most unlikely dramatic duo since Gilbert Gottfried and Helena Christensen performed "Taming of the Shrew" (in our dreams). The film, titled "The Call" looks to be a thriller of the good vs. evil variety, with severe religious overtones that would make Mel Gibson crap the Shroud of Turin. From the awkwardly translated voice-over speech in the trailer, we actually thought it was a parody. Let's hope this ends well for all considered, including the Leo Burnett agency and video producer Anonymous Content, with which Pirelli created it. We'll see when it goes live in March, 2006. More »
