    Carroll Shelby GT500KR

    other size(s): 800 1280

Dearborn, Mich. -- Automotive legend Carroll Shelby visited Ford World Headquarters on Tuesday, September 14th, and received a full report and briefing on the Shelby GT500KR project. He also received a seat-of-the-pants update in a development test mule at Ford's Dearborn Development Center. During the test session, Shelby discussed the vehicle's progress with Herman Salenbauch (right), director of Advanced Product Creation at Ford. Shelby GT500KR suspension, tire and vehicle tuning will continue through the fall, with production expected in the spring. Nearby, also in Dearborn, engine work continues. The supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine is expected to deliver 540 bhp, making the Shelby GT500KR the fastest production Mustang ever built. Pricing of the new, limited-edition KR, which was unveiled this past spring at the New York International Auto Show, has not yet been confirmed. (09/14/07)
