had the 4th generation Sentra and to me it was the last one that was fun to drive especially if you had the 5 spd manual. The SE-R was like a poor man's BMW 2002 but it was a hoot to drive. The 5 th gen Sentra was a big disappointment to me
Volvo wants its manual tranny from the 90s back!!
the Cayenne lettering is overkill IMHO but the new slimmer taillights are nice

I still like the one single red bar type light design the best
1974 LP400

either that or the Stratos but considering the Countach was what fed my childhood dreams...
its not the 5th of November is it?
yeah the new Jalop is not the old Jalop of 5 years ago
Most of the old guard commentariat has since moved to Hooniverse (myself included)
however I do pop in here once or twice a week
then something like this shows up and Im reminded of how this place has gone down the tubes
Well you got here by standing on the shoulders of giants...please dont F this up.
Greetings PROGRAMS! I AM R17!! Where is FLynn?
I came to the realization lately that the Jalopnik of today is much like the MTV of today.
Its changed and while some of is oldtimers have really gotten sick of the current state of Jalopnik would it be better to have it back to they way it was before?
I mean if MTV went back to 12 hours of music videos all the kids, all the ad money, everyone would go ape$fgT. How would they live without Jersey Shore and 16 and Pregnant?
You have to admit it would be the downfall of MTV much like if we went to the small grassroots type blog of the past it may mean the extinction of Jalopnik as well. So I cant blame Jalopnik and Gawker media for cranking out anything something to keep the fires warm.

I just wished there was a tad more thought in these mini posts.
or at least something funny without resorting to dick and fart jokes
wow I recognize alot of my old compaderes there notably ppl like udMan and the like!! Thanks!!
I hate to say this but this is the very reason I dont come here to often anymore
the new Jalop is not the old Jalop with Murilee and Graverobber and the Dream Car Garage, PCH, etc,.
its cheap laughs and COTDs every week (making them not as rare or special in a way)

All I can say is WTF?!
The commentariat was a group of well learned gearheads that educated while entertained at the same time. It was the anti VTEC is OWNZ BS that littered the internets. It was fun and it was a place where I learned about everything in autodom BEFORE the rags like Motor Trend and such went to print. Now we have the internet version of Motor Trend....wow that makes me real sad to think of it....

Screw the articles about fast boats
Screw the articles about fast planes
we want the freaking cars dangit
and for chrissakes SCREW the stupid Simpsons HAHA pics in the comments
what is this failblog?

I miss the island that rust forgot and I miss higher IQ laden comments of olde
I miss the old format
Please for godsakes stop dumbing down Jalopnik for the masses
we dont want that crap..if we did i would just watch Fast Lane Daily everyday and lose my braincells in the process

the only thing that would be ironic at this point would be for this to be a COTD from a guy thats been here for awhile but never starred...ahhhhhhhhh forgetaboutit

yeah Im getting old and crochety
man the cab driver just drive past not even standing up for a fellow cabbie
ppl suck
makes me want to watch "Hardcastle and McCormick"
its was looking good until I saw the rear end
seriously? BIG marque names went out in the 90s
remember the big MAXIMA,PORSCHE,PROBE that adorned the rear of vehicles in the 90s?
please Toyota dont hurt em
I have to against the grain and say I dont like the new rear end. I liked the quasi Phaetonesque rear lights of the current model and the new front end looks like a Ford
Fusion/Taurus mishmash
I am 36 so it ranges from POS to meh

starting in 1991 to 2011:

1985 Buick Century Custom sedan - White with red pinstriping and burgundy velour interior = not pulling much leg

1992 Nissan Sentra XE coupe - learned how to drive a stick on this little guy. Pretty dependable and I beat the crap out of it in college. Many many roadtrips. Installed numerous
"Bass" systems. Darned fun to drive!

1995 Nissam Altima SE sedan - Faux luxe and my first grown up car. It was mostly dependable until I hit 98,000 miles

2001 Suzuki Swift GL - My wife's little gas sipper..does it rreak of macho? NO but I only filled it up with 9 gallons EVERY 2 WEEKS!!! that rocks however in 2010 we hit snags in our income and sold this little baby and kept............

our 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE - First car that actually moved like stink that I owned. All the bells and whistles but also the first car that made me learn more of what goes on under the hood. Since going over 100,000 on the odo, I had to replace the radiotor, 2 ignition coils, a strut, the alternator, and now an A/C clutch......this car has made me write off Nissan for awhile which is sad since this company makes such greats like the GT-R...

We are starting a new family and heaven forbid I think I am going to cave in and get a used
Honda Odyssey. I was pushing for a Forester XT but I think I will be outvoted
As someone stated the griffin badge makes me think 1st or second gen Toyota Soarer
Drive Free or Die
