I never considered my myself an automotive hipster, but yeah, I'm that guy too. Let's go off in a corner and discuss the relative merits of the Longchamp, the Iso Rivolta and the Gordon-Keeble.
Ferrari. As people are fond of saying, it's a racing company that sells street cars to fund the racing, and thus doesn't really care about the cars it sells to the public. So, with the new links to Chrysler and the new "Lancia" models announced, I wager the time is ripe for the cavallino rampante to grace a sedan. Imagine the profit margin on the new Ferrari Daytona. Yeah, it's got a Hemi.
I don't think people who were born after a certain date believe in going outside. Everything to do is like, totally, indoors now. Like, for example, suntans and rock climbing. You totally, like, don't need to go outside to do those things. Like, I wouldn't do them if I had to go outside, like. Like, totally. Like.
That's the first idea I had based on the grill shape alone, but there are a couple things wrong. The Studebaker Champ has no vertical accent deviding the grill, and would lack the flared edges on the bed. I suspect the artist was not that skilled and the front view lacks depth. Look at the hood seams suggesting a very contoured hood with lower front fenders. Because of this, I think it might be a much older truck. Something like a 1941 Plymouth might be closer than the Studebaker.
As an FYI, Netflix has Rocky and Bullwinkle avaialble to watch instantly. I swear that service will turn us all into television zombies. So much to watch...
This is misleading at best... I assure you, all the Detroit freeways are quite choked with traffic under normal circumstances. This was obviously the middle of the night during a blizzard.
I never opened an account at Bank of America, yet have two accounts with them. I suspect they've never had a willing customer and only gained control of people's money through bank acquisitions, as is my case. I'll eventually close the accounts, but one of them is a retirtement account and it somehow transformed into a retirement CD at some point so I only have a tiny window I can transfer the funds without forfitting interest from the last period.
The 250 GTO based 240Z is a bit extreme, but I have contemplated the epic awesomeness of turning a Ferrari 308 or Mondial into a Fiero. Or, at least getting the Ferrari V8 into a Fiero. That would certainly get people chattering, and isn't so blasphemous.
The Ford Aspire gets my nomination. Perhaps the owner aspires to one day own a good car, but in reality it may be the culmination of all of their aspirations (how sad).
Nah, with the way 911 prices have been going, there is almost no way this isn't a nice price. At worst, if the nightmare scenario turns out to be a reality, it's still a fair price. No Crack pipes here.
I liked the details until I read "Transformers 3 style bumper". Is that actually how GM is describing it? Seems a bit meta, naming a car feature after what boils down to a childs toy that originally mimicked actual cars. Can we expect toy tie-ins from other makers? A Charger with a Gobots pack, or perhaps a Voltron edition Explorer...
This is exactly the kind of accident that really disuades me from getting a bike. In the last five years, I have twice been hit from the rear while waiting at a stoplight. I don't want to experience that without my metal cage.
Here's a hot tip, your new layout needs some work. I deeply desired to vote crackpipe on the ferrari 400i, but the poll was nowhere to be found. So, I was going to comment on what browser I am using (IE8), but couldn't find any way to comment on that article directly. Yesterday, your website was causing my browser to hang indefinitely as well, but that seemed sort of random. (occasional failure to load sort of trumps "faster load times" folks) RIP Jalopnik, you were a fine website in your time. #tips
"hated by purists"... Perhaps, but Ferrari purists hate all the street legal models, at least those that aren't a front engined V12. I haven't had the pleasure of driving one of these, but what I've heard is that the longer wheelbase allows for a much more comfortable seating position as well as a better handling car than the more popular 308GTS/GTB. I personally like the look of the Mondial coupe, and wouldn't kick one out of the garage.
@wkiernan: Exactly! I'd glad use an EV for my daily commuting if the cost was not prohibitive. Once economy of scale kicks in it might happen, but we have a way to go and lots of people need to pay the premiums first to get us there.
Also, how many people will need to rewire their entire homes and garages to make the transition to charging a car overnight? I'm skeptical my vintage 15 amp service will cut it. That's a significant obstacle as well.
Actually, what I really want is the real solution. Hydrogen fuel cell please.
