Nissan Entering Light Commercial Market within the US Starting with 3 New Vehicles. It has been announced today that Nissan will be entering the Light Commercial Vehicle business in the U.S. They are building a business plan to take up the excess capacity at its Canton, Mississippi plant after they send production of the next Nissan Quest Minivan, and the Infiniti QX56 to an undetermined location. Nissan will debut three new Light Commercial Vehicles over the next 3 years, and will use specifically designed Cummins diesel engines, and newly developed transmissions from ZF. Nissan will concentrate on 8 ton and less GVW rated vehicles. The firsr vehicle will debut at the 2009 North American Auto Show in January. These are brand new designs, specifically for the North American Market, and are not existing vehicles that Nissan currently builds elsewhere worldwide. These will most likely be incomplete vehicles, and will be ofered with a number of third-party bodies available.
