"It certainly isn't beautiful, but it's not utterly awful either."

      • trenace commented on America's 10 Most Confusing Traffic Signs

"An awful one, though with no graphics, just simple, apparently "clear" wording: Heading south on the Florida Turnpike towards the airport, there's an exit into another major highway. That exit is labeled "Orlando." Continuing on the Turnpike is labeled, simply, "Miami." Nothing is said about the airport. However, in fact if you want to go to the airport -- or to quite a lot of Orlando destinations -- you need to take the "Miami" option. Exactly how people are supposed to intuit this, I have no idea."

"Thanks rwcmick for the Hyundai India link. From the Autocar India article, the highway mileage of the model reviewed is only 38 US mpg."

"Sorry for the double post: the first seemed to have vanished into the ether, which in fact has happened many times, but obviously not this time."

      • trenace commented on Hyundai i10 Under Consideration For US Market

"Is the 56 mpg in US gallons, or Imperial? As they use Imperial gallons in India, the original source can't be accessed, and if the figure indeed is Imperial this would work out to "only" 46 mpg US which may make more sense, it seems worth asking."

"Just to be sure, is that 56 MPG for the Indian model in US gallons, or is it Imperial?"

      • trenace commented on Chevy, GMC Reveal XFE Versions Of Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe And Yukon For 2009

"Knocking a savings of 1 to 1.8 cents per mile is equivalent to knocking a savings of $1000-$1800 per 100,000 miles driven. Yeah, one makes it sound insignificant when breaking it down to one mile, but that adds up."

"As to all this caribou stuff that the anti-drilling crowd claims is a reason not to drill in ANWR: Of course, as mentioned their real motivation has nothing to do with facts, and so facts will not change their view."
