      • Mad_Science commented on Chrysler Needs $11 Billion To Make It Until The Imaginary 2009 Product Lineup Refresh

"@timtoolman: The biggest problem with CJs (at least in California) is that most of the survivors come from the AMC Vacuum Emissions and Rudimentary Control Era (AVERCE). In CA, if it's post-'75, you still have to pass smog, meaning you need to keep 30hp worth of nonsense in the engine."

"@Plecostomus - Now with 20% more Algae!: What about cars made in Canada and Mexico? What about imports that are manufactured here? Do you think every last component of domestically assembled vehicle is manufactured here? Are we talking about American companies, or American manufacturing jobs?"

      • Mad_Science commented on Chrysler Needs $11 Billion To Make It Until The Imaginary 2009 Product Lineup Refresh

"@jduffy13: Bullshit. I'm on my 2nd Wrangler and neither has ever died on me. I broke of tooth off the pinion in the rear diff offroad once (my fault), but still managed to limp it to work the next day. Now, if we're talking CJs, that's a whole different story."

      • Mad_Science commented on Grading The Not-So-Big Three's "Bailout" Plans

"Wert: Why only focus on sales? You can move 16M units a year, but if your operating costs are too high, it doesn't help you. What assumptions are you/they/we making about the margin on each car sold in those numbers?"

      • Mad_Science commented on Top Gear Pits BMW M3 Vs. Lexus IS-F, We Translate Stig's Morse Code

"I've always seen the IS-F as kind of a poseur's car. I know it's genuinely fast, but between the over-designed body treatments and the 8 speed auto...it seems like the most workout any of them will ever get will be to outrun sportier cars on the freeway at night. I know it would smoke my WRX in most situations, but fo rmy money, I'd rather have my car (actually, 3 of them)."

      • Mad_Science commented on Jalopnik Commenter Savant Buys SHOwagon

"@rlj676-new job, same problems: Tailgates rust out, tailgate motors (or in his case, wiper-motors) stop working, tailgate weatherstripping goes, rear side windows get busted, the gas tank is different, the tail lights are different and paintjobs cost more. Hopefully the floor of his rear tub isn't rusted out like mine."

Thanks for the COTD nomination the other day. Sincerity is very overrated.

So kind of you to notice.

I changed my avatar to honor one of our own. On a post about Pininfarina's death someone had clipped a photo from that site and they put up a takedown notice - So snagged their takedown notice!

Someday soon I might switch back...

Interesting, I see you talk to yourself, too! The things this site can do...

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Splitting the spelling into Electro Magnetic Force is simply a way of directing peoples attention to what the acronym "EMF" stands for in the context of the article.

I actually think my knowledge is quite a bit better than 1865. :)

No not moving from teh out side but if you youtube search for "slushbox" you should get a video of it starting up for the 2nd time (from about a year ago) and one of me driving form the inside. Hard to see any of the car form the cab till teh end.
