I guess I have a different version of luxury, I've been looking at 40s/50s Packards on ebay and craigslist, amazing that you can pick one up in nice shape for under $10K.
Ohhh... y'all mean luxury like power seats and fancy options.
I mean luxury as in having the luxury to own a vehicle I'll only drive a few times a year.
I almost had a very similar experience with a wild turkey when I came zooming around a turn in rural Kentucky last year. Considering my car is small, low and with a sloped hood, I was very glad I missed the bird. The fact that this actually occurred in Bourbon County was amusing though.
#4 - Regarding the MAF sensor, you can also buy a can of MAF cleaner at the parts store and follow the simple directions to clean it. In fact, I would recommend doing this every couple of years anyhow.
Excellent post, I was going to point this out as well - O2 sensors can be one of the most difficult things to remove, it's almost best to leave it to a shop than to screw up/crack your manifold in the process.
I got the V6 which I wouldn't call powerful but it's definitely more than adequate for a "sporty" car. I'm certainly not going to be blowing anyone away off the line but I've definitely had fun running through the gears on say the Tail of the Dragon.
What would a "modern" Model T look like? By modern I mean 2012 era sized tires, disc brakes, controls, etc.. Engine... as cheap as possible of an inline 4 I guess so eco-boost is out. What the heck, maybe an old straight 6? Keep the same idea of the minimalist passenger compartment. I'll leave it to you to figure out whether it has to pass modern safety regulations or not.
Agreed. I really like the look/lines of this - actually even more so than the actual Rolls wagons that were made. $32K is just too much though. For a NP it would definitely have to be under $20K, probably $15K or less I'd say.
I still think that from the side, these cars look like a Chevy Cavalier. Would much rather have an E30 BMW than this, and I think the BMW looks a heck of a lot better.
"I look at more cars for sale in a given week than I can honestly admit without sounding deranged. Many of them I immediately forget, some float around in my mind for a while"
This is me exactly. Not only on ebay but using craigslist search spiders as well. Heck, I have a whole bookmarks page dedicated to auctions that have ended but that I still want to bookmark for as long as the pics/details are around.
Thank you. Oddly enough, pretty much what my female bandmate told me. I don't think she has the same appreciation for engine porn that I do but.... oh gratoutious image... #oppositelock
Aight y'all, tell me how crazy I am for lusting over this car and what I should pay for it. Everything I want in a classic; compact, wagon, 5 speed, tight handling, appears to be done right, basically everything my old 2002tii was but with overdrive and enough space for my drumset and camping gear: [cgi.ebay.com]#oppositelock
