Which is weird, because the Jetta looks that way because it's a US-oriented variation of a car that the ROTW prefers as a hatch. But the cross-section of the Malibu's trunk still has a million-dollar look, IMO, even if the detailing is bland.

Like the housing market, it will take several years to clear the pipeline, and banks may never believe in truck residuals again. On a three-year lease, $6K in residual ~= $200/mo.

It sold well enough to continue, but not to retool or have a dedicated manufacturing line. The El Camino became redundant because of cheaper smaller trucks and luxurious bigger trucks, and no direct competition from Ranchero.

It's a lot like what happened to the Camaro. Except for racers, Camaro buyers switched to trucks.

Power mirrors are very easy and quick to adjust precisely, esp while you're moving. They're esp important for adjusting the right hand mirror.

I'd also choose power (centralized) locks before windows, except in a very tight car like a Miata. Eliminating the window crank from the footwell is a plus in a tight car, esp if you can reach the right hand lock button while belted in the driver's seat.

It was a low-volume, expensive, Range Rover-type status car, but it didn't share parts with other Chrysler products. Chrysler had already postponed the ZJ Grand Cherokee because they needed to invest in the crown jewels, the minivans. And after the ZJ, they needed a competitive passenger car (the Intrepid and Concorde). And they needed a competitive full-size truck.

From an investment perspective, modernizing the Gladiator was about the same as investing in the Corvette.
