Just cuz someone says it in Mexico doesn't make it so. Still a great engine though, and should be more accurately compared to the non-turbo Mini Cooper' engine
Yeah, never really impressed by that engine, regardless of horsepower. And the newer ones aren't that great either. Pretty rough at anything over 3k revs. No to pleasant to drive
Not really, they had super low compression ratios too, lazy cam profiles, very high internal friction and reciprocating mass, poorly designed induction and exhaust systems, and as a result were generally stupidly ridiculously low in specific horsepower. Yes, you can take any crap engine apart, replace half of its internals and make it more powerful
170 hp out of a normally aspirated 2.0 was pretty damn good 10 years ago. Also, all the car mags raved about it, so you're wrong. A good performance engine isn't always about brute power.
208 was Italian market only to escape the over 2 liter tax. Not fair t compare it with other exotics with much larger displacement. A 2.0 screaming wailing Ferrari V8? I'll take it
Duh!. That's not marketed as performance engine because it's not. It's a small displacement highly efficient engine with lots of modern tech that won it several awards, and is quite a gem in its own right. Loves to rev and quite smooth.
Yup, 4 more horses at probably $10 k per horse....Cadillac has come a long way for BMW to set its sights on any of its products. Well done, Cadillac...Having driven a CTS-V coupe quite a bit, I say BMW has a high benchmark to hit, but still prefer the Caddy's tastefully brash American swagger and style.
Different strokes...I prefer compact and pert to oversized and droopy, especially as gravity's effects accumulate with the passing of time..and like you'd kick that out of bed for eating crackers
Thank you...I have a daily driver cherished Alfa 164 S with over 160k on it, engine an gearbox never touched, all original engine accessories except for water pump. Just replaced the electronic shocks 5k miles ago. The only times it left me stranded was because of something I did or didn't do and my inferior amateur mechanic skills.
Last year, yes Nationalistic, but everyone is welcome to live /be Italian, whereas the Germans don't like those of inferior cultures & races pretending to be Germans. It sullies the German way of life.
