The notable difference between the Checker version and the others is that the Checker Aerobus was a factory offering.
Well, he didn't come in second...
I understand the term "drop" in recording industry parlance, but when I read "Audi drops R8 GT Spyder pricing", it reads as a price reduction. I shouldn't be halfway through the blurb before I realize, "oh, he means Audi is releasing the price."

Come on, Ray. Using "drop" doesn't make the headline more hip. It just makes it less concise.

You don't advance timing to avoid knocks, you retard it, but I guess "retarded" wouldn't have fit the meter. We'll call it poetic license. Well done, and congrats on the COTD.
At only around $500 under NADA retail, it might be a little overpriced for the current market, but certainly not into crack pipe territory. The asking price is about right, assuming that they are willing to sell it for slightly less.
I was impressed with their double chocolate stout. That doesn't make me want to try bacon maple ale.
And now that I notice the wink there at the end, I'm up to speed.
Ms.? Have we forgotten the Patrick Dempsey situation already?

Oh, there is nothing irrational about a fear of crows pecking out your eyes while you sleep. A guy that I went to school with used to camp a lot with his uncle, and one night, his uncle told him this story about a guy that he once knew that said that such a thing happened to his cousin.
It's the government or nobody. You are absolutely correct. Given the choice, I'll pick nobody. Thanks for playing.
I'm not going to take sides on the proposal, because that would overlook the bigger issue. You're petitioning the wrong people. You should be petitioning the manufacturers, not the government. Would I expect a manufacturer to incorporate such a readout to appease a vocal minority, many of whom probably own their own scan tools already? Of course not, but if it is truly a good idea, make a business case for it, and pitch it to them. Let the market decide whether it is something that "we" as consumers want in our cars. Another government mandate isn't the answer.
You can build a mid year 'Vette pretty much from scratch using OEM and after market parts, so replacing all of the damaged components shouldn't be a problem. $13k is a pretty hefty starting point to start adding dollars to eventually have a car that will forever be branded.

There doesn't appear to be $13k worth of parts left, and the resultant car will have a hard time reaching a value to rival the parts cost to get it back together. This is going to be a really expensive Corvette when it's done, and the title will, at best, always be rebuilt.

The hose appears to be a corrugated stainless piece, and I dispute your claim that the valve covers were untouched, since the one valve cover that we see is melted pretty badly. The front half of the valve cover looks pretty clean, and that might explain the condition of the alternator, by indicating that the highest heat was toward the back half of the engine.
Of the 300 original General Lee chargers used in filming, only 947 are known to still exist.
My first 2 cars wouldn't surprise anyone as being fun despite their lethargic acceleration. (Triumph Spitfire and AW11 MR2). The less obvious choice would be the car that my sister drove during high school, a 1st gen Ford Festiva with a 4-speed. I beat the hell out of that car, and it was a riot.
MX-5 MGB GT? OMFG!

$77k? LOL!

I think that the estimate is optimistic. The first production car in the line is worthy of a premium, but any premium for the "next oldest" drops off rapidly. The sixth oldest Corvette would have no noticeable value beyond the 127th oldest. How much more valuable should the third oldest be than the sixth oldest, and therefore the 127th oldest?
If you're convicted of an offense that is pertinent to your profession, whether on duty or not, you should absolutely be fired. I don't want an accountant that has been convicted of embezzlement working for me, even if he has never stolen from me. The infraction calls into question his integrity.

An officer of the law that flagrantly disregards the same laws which he has sworn to uphold, just because he's "not on duty," is not acceptable. Where is the line? Can he go home and beat his wife? Can he rob a bank? Can he traffic heroin? As long as he's not on duty, it seems that you are making the argument that he should still be allowed to be a police officer, after serving his time, and paying his fines.

I strongly disagree.

This is what's wrong with kids these days. Lack of follow through. Someone clearly was trying very hard to get into her pants, and made a modicum of progress, but seems to have given up, rather than finish what he had started, or perhaps try a different tact, like buying her a daiquiri.
The last Imp that I saw on eBay was complete, if a bit perforated by the tin worm, and failed to sell at its start bid of $650. While the bare shell here looks remarkably clean, and the others even look better than the aforementioned $650 Imp, the $5000 asking price might be optimistic, particularly since the pool of potential buyers is fairly small. (Rootes fan with masochistic tendencies, a 3+car garage, and a dearth of other current projects).

I've got the garage, the vehicular masochism, and while not a Rootes "fan", I do like the Imp.

What I don't have is a lack of existing projects or an extra $5k lying around for projects that I "might get around to someday."
