1200hp would have that thing going flips IF the drivetrain didn't blow a universal and sever the car in half, the long way.....I can ONLY imagine this is a joke.
I have driven thru that spot many times and said, its gotta be documented...and voila! It does pain me a little bit to see the cars not better taken care of. I mean I fully realize that having multiple ponies in the stable is a big job, but really....would a little wax hurt? Imagine the black Olds or the Imperial all buffed out!
I don't see the point. I'd rather drive a boxster knowing its the real thing then some fake ass GT. Is it really just important what other people think? What about what you know....and you know its F A K E !!!!!
That was the best read I've had in a while. Color me J E A L O U S!!! And about road tripping in Scandinavia....watch out for the road side cameras!!! I got nailed in Norway! Thankfully, the photo showed me (an obvious foreigner) driving my friend's car so she got off the hook - - -otherwise, almost a $1,000 fine!!!!! So yes...lots of cool snakey roads but you gotta keep it under the limit!
Is this the start of some new and actually INTELLIGENT market/direction for the FoMoCo? From the brilliant minds which brought us the land-barge Excursion, its nice to see some recognition of where the industry is headed.
I saw a bunch of these while in Europe recently and they are HOT cars! I really liked the lines and the overall stance of the car. Aggressive without being aggro. And not too small.....why don't we get this over here!?!?!?
there's an older dude who lives on Fulton after Masonic if you're heading towards the ocean and he's got a MASSIVE collection of 50's metal on the STREET. Everytime I drive by I think his neighbors must hate him for taking all the parking...but what a pleasant site it is!
those pedals....they are bottom mounted? like an old VW? I hated that. Seemed like they were much harder to operate than "traditionally" hanged pedals!
And so the fadsters must now suffer. I feel so bad for them all! The government's support of the SUV-buying scourge has cost our nation dearly...imagine if all those resources wasted on giant cars with 4WD that never go off the pavement was spent on solar panels. Ok, so I'm a hippy. Shoot me. And the argument that "bigger is safer" is bullshit...anyone EVER consider the fact that SMALLER CARS AVOID ACCIDENTS??? Hmmmm, Einstein????
Gimme a break people. The Avanti and the DeLorean are classics. Americana. They are and always will really cool cars. I mean who doesn't want gullwing doors. You? You're lying.
When I saw the car, at first, I could believe my eyes. I tried to see inside but they had a curtain up. Nice woodworking though! And crafty with the fiberglass....and yes, I'm SURE it won't be in SF during the end of August!!!
There is nothing in the world like watching a Lagonda (aka the Aston 747) come down a "runway" with all those headlights blaring. Without question, one of my favorite cars of all time...way back in the 80's I actually stood next to one. S E X Y....like you don't even know.
eeeek....though a fan of diesels i'm a bigger fan of Cougars (as you can see from my pic) and well, my 67 289 4V with a 3 speed Hurst gets well over 20mpg on the highway. i'm not sure there's an eco-trade-off here but its got HUGE gear head factor. Hmmmmm, maybe I need a red bio-diesel cougar!!!!
Those old square Rabbits were the B O M B. Love me some of that retro day-glo striped interiors!!! But really...americans need to get over their fear of diesels! Diesels rock and now can deal with the un-ending need-for-speed in this country.
This is a "micro-car"??? Think back to the 70's...the Honda CVCC...that was a micro-car that got 50mpg. Oh wait, we don't have to go back that far....I owned (but I'm not that proud of it) a 3 cylinder Chevy Sprint in the late 80's. I regularly got 50+ mpg on the highway....forward thinking like this really ain't that forward!!!!
I couldn't agree with JPech more. At least 1/2 of the "roadtrip" is the "sweet" factor of your car....and there's nothing sweeter than an old convertible like my 67 Lemans - you can see EVERYTHING while you're cruising at 70mph and thanks to a miniscule 2V carb score 20+mpg while carrying an extraordinary amount of luggage...and HELLO! A Toyota Corolla ain't that great on the gas.
