Kid: Dude I am thinking about making this supper cool hella flush car that will get me laid like a million times.
Honda lover: Dude you godsta start with a civic sedan man them chicks have parents and if they know you drive a Civic they will think you are trustworthy.
Kid: Are you sure? My grandmother has a Civic sedan it is borring.
Honda lover: Yes, but we will lower it and put an exhaust on it and you will be smoking Mustangs all day long.
Kid: I don't know I could just buy an Eclipse, they look really cool.
Honda lover: Eclipse? You have to be kidding those things are hella expensive to ensure and you can't chop the springs to lower them because they weight too much.
Kid: OK I guess I will buy a Civic sedan, can you help me make it hella flush?
Honda lover: sure just meet me at Home Depot Sunday morning we will drop it in the parking lot and you will get laid by lunch time.
Come on kids stop jacking up every reasonable daily driver out there, I know Honda made 2 billion Civics in the past 15 years but at the rate you mess them up you are quickly killing the population. Just buy a Scion and call it a day. Ohh and cars don't get you laid a popularity or money do that.
Exhibit #1 Smart car how much space is there between the front seat and the front bumper? Not that much.
There is no safety reason for this thing to look like a Durango. There may be preceived safety in that front end, but that is a whole other story. Vehicles should be designed to take advantage of their powerplant. The three box look was perfect for internal combustion, electric is different and it should be designed differently. Or maybe we should just go back to steam engine designs?
Elton - make a minivan, most minivans are used to take kids to school then run an errand and go back to the garage most of the day before getting the kids again. Use electric motors near the wheels so you can make it small with a huge interior. They are perfect because you can fit two charge cycles in at the same location.
OR - go ahead and make a Durango with electric motors.
That groupon sounds awesome I would probably buy a couple to get more seat time, two laps would go by really quick. Everytime I have done a track day it has gone past in a flash and that has been driving four sessions and riding along during the off sessions. That would be awesome at Mid-Ohio, but I would be nervous about others driving those cars on that course with me anywhere near them.
I have wanted to reach out to Automobile to see if they would do an article on high end sports cars with regular people driving the cars. Give people a chance to try something they would never be able to afford and see what their reactions are. Best would be at a track to see if people would be faster in a faster car they have never driven or their own car which they know from driving it. This all comes from driving other people's cars at AutoX events and finding out how easy some cars are to drive fast. S2000 is the easiest car to get in and go fast right away, dam is it easy to drive fast.
