I'm debating the accuracy of this as this car, although a 2010, isn't utilizing the updated 987 look that was shown on here a week or so ago which is supposed to come into effect soon.

How hard is it to un-Malaise an engine? I'd imagine it would involve ripping our the emissions gear, new rods and and crank to jack up the compression ratio, and maybe new carbs?

Man, I was hoping for better fuel figures than that. Set on cruise the 335i can average about 29MPG. One would hope that for the extra cash plunked down for a diesel you would get significantly better fuel economy. I was hoping for something in the region of 40mpg and I'd switch from a 335i coupe to a 335d coupe in a heartbeat. As long as you could get stick that is.
