@shdwcaster: I'm just sayin' the bureaucrats I saw were the least incompetent. That doesn't mean their system actually works.
Having worked for a manufacturer of transit buses in the past, I can state that Seattle actually has the least incompetent public-trans bureaucrats. Not that it's a very high bar, but still.
@bobash: Never got emails from you- did you send them to murilee at jalopnik dot com?
@slag: Looks like the same car, all right. See, it's not a beater.
@slag: It's one of two small rear-facing scoops on the hood, presumably for ventilation. Here's a photo of both scoops, taken from above the car's roof.
@Heep: Actually, that 8V looks pretty good- that scoop is only a few inches wide, so the ickiness is exaggerated. It's just a complete unrestored car in fairly good original condition. I'll post the photos of the whole car tomorrow.
@alfamale: Maybe we need to have a Jalopnik-themed drinkfest at an Alameda dive bar one of these days, given how many East Bay folks we have here. I suggest the Lemon Tree, or maybe the Club House.
@TinaChow: Listerine tastes better than 'Lectric Shave, and it's got more alcohol to boot!
Stay tuned tomorrow for a full set of photos of the 8V!
All right, I've finally managed to log in and post comments.

We have a winner! Actually, we've had a winner for quite a while, but I've been unable to say anything about it for the last few hours. This car is a 1954 Fiat 8V coupe! pauln, you have triumphed! Send me your shipping address (murilee at jalopnik dot com) and I'll get that Visible Rotary kit out to you ASAP.

@voodoojoo: Check Tuesday morning's posts- we'll put this up again with a hint that should make it easier. Stay tuned.
@alfamale: Hmmm... is that your red 80s Alfa I see around Grand St?
For what it's worth, the Chevy Sprint/early Geo Metro got way better real-world mileage than the current Prius (which is actually a fairly big car). The Honda Insight kicked the Prius' big round ass in the mileage department, too, but Honda's marketers foolishly targeted it at cheapskates instead of the smug.
@thunder: I've been trying to give out a hint, but I can't get my &$&*#(@ comments to work.

You're all wrong so far. Here's a hint: It's not a Ford product.

And I'm not trying to keep the Visible Rotary kit, because I bought two of them! One for me, one for the winner!
