Apparently it was a pain to work on and has been known to sludge up. On top of that, the power wasn't anything special for the given displacement.
The ancient Buick 90 degree OHV V6 was a better all around engine... particularly in supercharged form.

Well personally I think the new one will be as much of a flop as the old one if they take the same approach.
I can understand WHY they're doing this... they're trying to get as much volume for their D platform as possible. And they need that D platform for the Bentley Continental and the Audi A8.
But honestly, they should leave the technology-packed versions of the D platform for Bentley and Audi.
Now I'm not saying that it should be devoid of tech... just not go overboard with it... like offering a W12 engine.
Ah... that brings me back to my high school days when Mustangs were had with either the 2.3L OHC Pinto engine or the 302 V8.
I'm not surprised that Ford is going back to having a 4cyl Mustang. Now I only wonder if the base engine will be an ecoboost 4cyl or if that will be an option and the base engine will be the regular 2.5L 4cyl... which I think would be a good base-model Mustang engine.
Actually... now that I think of it, it's probably cheaper than having a houswife + kids too.

I went to Pittsburgh for less than $1 a few weekends ago.
And last year I went to Washington DC for $8.25.
It sounds like decent money, but they're not rich.
Also I believe they need a car that is reliable, does NOT attract too attention and has decent space for their clients.... while projecting an appropriate image.
So my vote goes to a new (or fairly new) Dodge Charger.
