if you've ever had to get out of the 181st street station, you'd already know the dread feeling that those elevators were about to crap out at any given moment. they are big, filthy, non-airconditioned and old, and while there used to be elevator operators, they were laid off years back. as to the how and why of 2 elevators being the sole means of access, you got me.
easily one of the most miserable and unpleasant subway stations in the entire system :P
this is beyond mere porn ... i feel like i just impregnated the spirit of goodness which is present all around us, and this formless spirit then gave birth to the twin god-emotions named D and E, each of whom grew up, cast their spirit-eyes upon this image, this fount wherefrom they came, turned into their namesakes, then james lipman took a picture of them, i saw the picture, and the cycle repeats in perpetuity throughout the universe
it's never too early to start filling jalop up with public interest stories of only marginal interest to its community which have nothing to do with cars and everything to do with sensationalism and pageviews.
alfa romeo, ray. saab sonnet. sunbeam alpine. do these ring a bell? is the contagion fading?
for what it's worth, i don't really think ray was being 100% serious about calling me heartless.
anyway i have no problem with jalopnik turning into a catch-all dredge of all things hot in worldwide news, cars be damned ... provided we get a jalopnik2.com with just the car-related content. it's like when mtv stopped playing music videos, they came out with mtv2 for all the "die-hards" who still, for some reason, preferred music to bs.
is there any acceptable way to question what all these earthquake stories are doing on a car website, without coming across as callous to the suffering of japan right now?
yeah i'm a bit confoozled. these cars often look totally outlandish, and this one is black and red, which is kind of "tasteful" in the gt2 world. i guess it's a bit fussy with the detailing, but anyone buying a porsche has a chance of diving headlong into their rabbit hole of insane fusstastic optionery
@underwear-ninja: you're being old-fashioned. automotive safety research over the past decade has revealed that visibility is actually quite hazardous.
look for porthole-style windows to start showing up on 2016 models, with the total replacement of all glass with a multiple camera/screen setup by 2020
