<![CDATA[oldraven commented on GM Declares Bankruptcy Imminent After $4.2 Billion Third Quarter Loss]]> A little too much sensationalism there, Jalopnik. Call it a grammar slip if you want, but titling this blog 'GM Declares Bankruptcy...' is incredibly misleading and very much false. They haven't filed, and with the incoming low interest government loan, as well as the likelihood of being included in the $700B bailout package, says the company will have more capital by the end of the year, and so will not be filing.

- have a splash screen straight out of 1993.
- have a camera.
- have a button that opens and closes something.
- have some of the worst interior fitments in the industry. That seriously looks like a photo of a used car.

So the answer is to skyrocket the price and force the economy back down, totally negating the bailout? Son-of-a.... I hate it all. Oil is worse than money for corruption and ruin.

<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Commenter Of The Day: Lee Corso Edition]]> And I've got to add one more thing. If you think a more mainstream and less offensive design is a recipe for failure, when was the last time you'd looked at a Prius? ;) Last I'd heard they're selling pretty well and look like a fish.

In this segment, it's the holier than thou attitude and level of technology that sells the car, not muscular lines.

]]>
<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Commenter Of The Day: Lee Corso Edition]]> It won't be $40k, but it'll still have same batteries as the standard Prius. The PHEV Prius will be more of a match, technology wise, with the PHEV Vue than the Volt.

Even still, with the proposed $7500 rebate being offered, you'll be a lot closer to the price of a PHEV Prius with much more advanced technology and performance.

]]>
<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Commenter Of The Day: Lee Corso Edition]]> The concept was about E-flex, not bulging fenders and a chopped top. It's annoying that people will damn a car that's merits are all in the technology over something as mundane and unimportant as looks. Especially when those looks are still so far ahead of the competition.

<![CDATA[oldraven commented on What To Expect From The 2010 Chevy Aveo]]> That's not even close. The new car has a clam-shell hood, for heaven's sake. All that is is a current Aveo sedan, which already has a cross-bar grille, and stuck the Malibu one on instead. They made no attempt to use the spy photos we've all already seen. In other words, not one inch of this 'rendering' will give you an idea of what the next Aveo/Lova will look like.

Don't put the slightest bit of stock in this, guys.

]]>
<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Porsche Design Launches P’9120 Desk Radio]]> Porsche Design? More like the lack thereof. A box with three circles................ and check out that remote. It's a grid. Wow, must have blown the budget on that one.

Keep designing cars. Actually, since you've only really designed one car since the late 90's, keep on refining the one you've got.

<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Mysterious 2011 Cadillac Sedan To Offer Four-Cylinder Engine]]> A Cadillac Hatch-back???? Now you're going completely off the deep end. That would sell like a mouldy breakfast bagel.

]]>
<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Mysterious 2011 Cadillac Sedan To Offer Four-Cylinder Engine]]> @smalleyxb122:

The problem with Cadillac using an I6, which I would love to see GM build (the I6, not the Caddy), is that Cadillac is known for their V configurations. It has always been the Cadillac V12, V16, V8, and now V6. The V engine is as ingrained into the marque now as vertical tail-lights.

]]>
<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Mysterious 2011 Cadillac Sedan To Offer Four-Cylinder Engine]]> "That said, a small, light, properly executed small RWD sedan with a torquey turbo four could give Cadillac the "driver's car" that could finally cause a segment of BMW owners to consider defecting."

Isn't that what Chevrolet and Pontiac are for? I agree that Cadillac should avoid veering off-course right now, just when they're getting competitive. Forget the small 4-banger, Cadillac, and bring us a nice torquey DI turbo diesel six. You've already got pretty much all the parts you need, with the high pressure DI system on the 3.6L. Just add a turbo and higher compression and you're in business. (I know there's more to it than that, but you get my drift.)

<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Put On Your Cowboy Hat And Get In The Sportsman!]]> "Will the Malaise 318 deliver enough power to get the van out of the quarry?"

Yes, it will. My brother's '74 Tradesman, (converted with a full carpet and wood panel interior, a bed/table and the token fridge/sink/wine rack), would lay a black mark a half a block long with two cylinders not firing, sideways half the time. Say what you will about the 318, it was bulletproof and was good enough to last until modern times as the 'Magnum V8'; a 318 with FI.

That van was awesome, and it was only a few years ago now that he sold it to a friend to use as a delivery rig. I remember commuting to work in it for awhile, camping more times than I can count in the Alberta Rockies, and almost burning it to the ground when a wayward 'flame' meant to light a left-handed cigarette got too near that classy carpeted wall.

Good times...... good times...

<![CDATA[oldraven commented on Commenter Of The Day: Blame Canada Edition]]> @racerx:

That Campbell thing threw me off too.

-"Purpose of visit, eh" asked the border agent.-

I call BS! No Canadian would say 'eh' at the end of that question?

'eh' usually lives at the end of a statement, asking for the listeners agreement, rhetorically. "That was a damn good Salmon, eh?" "You're working some pretty long hours, eh?" "It's a really boring book, eh?"
