Summary:
GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 PONTIAC VIBE. DUE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE FRICTION LEVER INTERACTS WITH THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSIDE THE PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY, THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE LEVER MAY BECOME SMOOTH DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IN THIS CONDITION, IF CONDENSATION OCCURS ON THE SURFACE, AS MAY OCCUR FROM HEATER OPERATION (WITHOUT A/C) WHEN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS COLD, THE FRICTION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS OPERATED MAY INCREASE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMING HARDER TO DEPRESS, SLOWER TO RETURN, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION.
Consequence:
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY BECOME HARD TO DEPRESS, SLOW TO RETURN TO IDLE, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT YET PROVIDED A REMEDY PLAN OR AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668 OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.
After the dust settles from this program, it would be interesting to know how many Domestic vs. Import sales were made. Where I work we had 20 CARS vehicle sales made at our Honda store, while our Chevrolet store had 9.
I had a 1971 Chevy Concours S/W. The seat belt worked great for a bottle opener. If the bottle cap was straight enough, you could stick em on the dash knobs for decoration!!
Let's see... I work at a Chevrolet dealer in Maryland, where business is not good already. We already have a Honda store that is slow at the moment. The area is pretty much saturated with all makes within 10 miles of us... except for KIA! Yay KIA... the savior of american jobs! I need to start looking for a job.. maybe in congress.
@Hookster: Isn't this Article about American drivers? The photo appears as tho she is sitting in the right seat. Maybe it's a photo of a woman in a non-U.S. built vehicle, drinking what appears to be a rum and coke from a disposable hot beverage cup, listening to a person describe a past or future "Liaison" while driving.
The 24's only roll on the front... quite possibly just the left front. In the pic, the rear is possibly equipped with a P19575r14. Complete with a full wheel cover.
I will agree.. there are those us of who have gone down and those who have yet to go down. Welcome to the club my busted up brother. (Two Time Harley-Davidson Road King Chrome Killer)
