So take a loan out against the now-restored value of the car. It's not hard to demonstrate the enormous value of the restored car and shouldn't be an issue. Trouble paying the loan off? Sell a Miura.
For sure. I mean who turns down a free million dollar restoration of an already valuable car?
No intended class or stuck up bullshit here, but I was talking about driving my Cayenne on all-seasons. In all types of snow situations I was never once able to get it to so much as spin a wheel when leaving an intersection. I never felt snows were ever necessary for it. If I had ever, even once, had a situation come up in which I felt the car was even remotely twitchy on the snow then I'd have gotten snows for it the next day. I have driven a wide variety of SUVs and AWD cars/SUVs over the years (seriously, you name it and I've probably driven it) and nothing ever came close to the Porsche.

Somehow this conversation got off topic though. I was never advocating not having a set of winter tires, or suggesting that it's wise to live with your supercar on summer tires year-round. I said that I could see taking them out in the snow once to see how they handled it--for education and fun.

To each his own I guess.
You're missing my point. Knowing how your car handles when it loses grip is information that you can then use all year long, not just when your car is on snow tires. Snow is the one time of year when you can force your car to lose grip intentionally (while not on the track or a skid pad). Rain can make for slick roads but in an AWD car it's pretty hard to get it to break free without driving recklessly. It doesn't rain very often where I live and even if it did I don't think it's wise to give a car large boots of throttle in the rain in order to try to get it to break loose in the summer/warmer weather. In snow it doesn't take much to get it to lose grip so you learn more quickly and with less danger. But whatever, to each his own.
Don't be melodramatic, they're not risking the lives of anyone in that video. Sub 20mph speeds (which are what most intelligent people drive at when in a city on snow covered streets) are not likely to cause anyone any serious harm, not even pedestrians.
Why wouldn't you want to know how your car handles when it loses grip? I happen to think that a light snow situation will give you the knowledge you need to have about your car so that you know how it will respond in ALL situations. A test of worst case scenario if you will. Not everyone has access to a skid pad to learn their car.
I don't need to watch it, but thank you anyway. I am fully aware of the benefits and advantages of snow tires. I live in an area that clears snow very, very well and all-season tires have always worked quite well. I'm not talking about driving a RWD car with no traction control systems in deep snow or ice--the article and my original comment were both referring to cars with advanced AWD systems driving in minimal snow.
I drove my AWD sports car with summer tires in the snow the other day without any trouble whatsoever. The car has 400 miles on it and I wanted to see how it would handle it. I also lived with my Cayenne S for years with all-seasons only year round and it never put a wheel wrong even though I live in the mountains. So you are incorrect, cars CAN handle, or at least cope, with tires not as well suited to the conditions. (That doesn't mean I'm advocating not having the best tires for conditions, I'm just saying that it's not as black and white as everyone wants to make it.)

If you live in a place like Seattle where it rarely snows then why on earth would you expect that they would buy snow tires before it snows there? I hardly think that's "dumb." What if these guys were driving to the tire shop? Should they tow the cars there after it snows?

At the risk of going against the crowd here, I would do the exact same thing if I had either of these cars. Here's why: I want to know my car thoroughly. You can learn a lot about your car in conditions where you're likely to lose traction. (How does the car respond when it breaks free? What are the warning shots it gives? How does the traction control respond? The ABS? The AWD system? Etc.) If I were an owner of either of these cars then I would plan to drive them as much as possible all year long. I would want to know how they handle snow BEFORE I put snow tires on them. Yes, it is possible to learn these things about the car after you've put the tires on it but it's also faster to learn it before. Personally I see it as an intelligent thing to do when you're getting to know your car. So if you see someone doing this kind of thing then don't necessarily jump to conclusions about how stupid they are. (That being said, I don't know these people and they very well might be stupid.)
Why wouldn't you take the car out? It's only 2 inches of snow.
As long as it doesn't turn creepy then I don't care. It often turns creepy though. :/
Easy there, don't paint everyone with the same brush either. I am straight and dislike Patti Stanger just as much as you do probably, but I also cannot grasp how individuals can be both committed AND non-monogamous. I don't judge people for being non-monogamous, but I also don't pretend that I can understand how you can be deeply emotionally connected with someone and also share them with anyone else.
Out of curiosity, down thread we have a guy saying that this guy's car had active steering and as such has a different steering set up that could make this possible. Make sense to you or still bull?
Yeah, I don't think being a billionaire is all it's cracked up to be. I'd much rather just have a few millions and still be able to fly under the radar.
You don't want to be forced to live? I sure hope you have a living will and are DNR/DNI.
Fully. I read that list and thought it seemed pretty understaffed actually. Four guards means you've basically got, what, one guard per shift plus an extra one floating around periodically?! Hell Marvin Davis was robbed at gunpoint in his limousine and he was traveling with a security entourage on the French Riviera! If anything I think 4 guards is the security staffing equivalent of Zuckerberg's wardrobe...woefully inadequate for a billionaire.
BAH! You beat me to the Beaker lookalike punch!
And get her hair done. Kardashians: They're just like us!!
