You make a good point. Having an open mind about things is important, even if you take some flack for changing your view. Some people, however, seem to change their minds at the most opportunistic times. If the circumstances surrounding a paradigm shift seem suspicious, it's hard to take it seriously.

My point, reiterated, is that we should stop getting offended over everything.
