Sad! I wanted that black and white one as a wallpaper too. What an insane jump.
Dude, anyone who hates on a GTI isn't worth having as a friend. Maybe let them try driving it and see if that changes their minds.
Corolla. It has to be. Good gas mileage, reliable, extremely boring. 2

Let's face it - the vast majority of Japanese cars are appliances, at least as far as the general public is concerned.

Manchester police? Maybe it was driven by this guy:
I feel like I've seen a few early-80s Nissans/Datsuns or GM sedans with badges that proudly announce they're "FRONT WHEEL DRIVE." I wish I could remember which cars had these. They must have really thought they were hot shit back then.
Yeah, I like the more subdued looks of my 08 as well. I almost look like a responsible citizen in it, at least until I start driving it hard.

And I gotta stick up for my ride - the 08s had less power than the current one, but they were NOT slow. I've driven mine and the newer ones back to back, and while the newer ones pull a little harder at high RPMs, they aren't much different.

HA. I keep trying to post the video but Nibbles won't let me.
Every time I hear the name "Scion," all I can think of is this:
I am going to buy the HELL out of this when it arrives in America.
Very sorry to hear about your dog, Ray. I'm sure he's moved on to that great rally stage in the sky.
Good Lord. Is this the worst automotive marketing campaign in years or what?
"To us, there's something wrong about the idea about "journalists" running away from a story."

Absolutely! Hang in there, brave Jalopnik writers! A real reporter isn't afraid of anything! Sometimes you have to fist-fight your way through a rioting crowd to file your story on deadline. That's just how it is.
Is this like the time Gizmodo got the prototype iPhone 4? Did someone leave the C7 'Vette at a bar or something?
Oh yeah, the C&D article was for the Subaru version, which is supposedly more hopped-up. Hopefully the Scion will be cheaper.
The only thing I'm worried about is the price tag. Car and Driver wrote that they estimated it will start around $28,000, and that's way too much for this car. $28k puts it in Mustang GT and 370Z territory.

I'm hoping it will actually start around $23,000 (or less, ideally.) I'd be willing to see it go higher if a more powerful turbo version is added.
So they can fit the MS3 engine into a tiny Mazda 2, but not a Miata?

Come on, Mazda! Make a 263-horsepower Miata so you can take my money already!
It's gotta be the Camry. I always see them in the far left lane going five mph under the speed limit.

But it's got good qualities too. No car better articulates to the world that you have no driving skills, didn't do any research before you bought the car, and basically gave up on your dreams and being an interesting person a long time ago.
