OK. As a "G", let me help you with a couple of things: 1) It's GLBT. The "Q" is redundant and generally not used. 2) I would sooner equate sidewalk art with my young nieces than a gay pride festival. I've been to many pride events all over the US and not once noticed anything written in chalk on a sidewalk. 3) I see "CoExist" and the HRC sticker on just as many MINI's, Subaru's and Wranglers as I do VW's.
Maybe if it didn't START at $50K more people would have considered the turbo. The entry 3.0 is only $33K. The 2.8 SRX is exactly the kind of car I want, however I'm not willing to pay $52,000 when I can get a Q5 for quite a bit less. Oh, and for all of you who bash CUV drivers, I don't like the way a traditional wagon looks, but certainly don't need a Tahoe. The SRX or X3 or Q5 offer the right mix of being able to cart crap home from Lowes and avoiding a trip to the gas station more than once a week.
@Neener: Actually, I just picked up a third one on Tuesday. The first two were leases a few years ago, the 2009 9-3 is a purchase. They are fun to drive, decent standard features and a surprisingly OK dealer/service experience. If they stick around, fingers crossed, I will most likely buy a fourth in a couple years.
Sam, I'm glad to see you've altered the headline and removed "Insanely." The price of this vehicle is pretty much on par with that of the Lexus LS600h and the customary hybrid premium.
I honestly don't think people buying this car are looking for 50 mpg since they would be buying a 7 series, or similar, anyway. At least with the hybrid version, they can do a tiny bit less damage to the environment.
@justsomereportingguy: Have you even driven a GM vehicle lately? Their products are improving in leaps and bounds. You can't just wiggle your nose and *poof* have an entirely new lineup. Since people hate dealing with dealerships, I think this gives some people a different avenue to complete their purchase.
As a dog owner, I don't see an issue with this. My puppy HATES the car and would prefer to sit outside on the pavement if we're not moving. Now if your picture showed the doggie trying to claw its way back in the car, that's a different story.
