@Spitt: I also worked with Sampoerna and was actually with them when they got bought out. In the end, everyone made their money and laughed all the way to the bank.
@humphrmi: The area where Capt. Sully landed his plane on the Hudson is now a tourist attraction. It's the Hudson River people! Nothing there but water and pollution...and maybe some dead bodies that haven't been found.
@doctor_cos: Don't forget the Bush Man of the Wharf.
The day after Christmas last year I was pulled over at 2AM as I was driving home. I had a half pound of weed in the trunk of my 67 Galaxie and about a gram of weed in my pocket. Like an idiot, the half pound was barely sealed and it stunk up my whole car. The cop immediately asked me if I was smoking pot and I told him that I was coming home from a party where there were people smoking, yet I did not partake in it. He went back to his car and came back to tell me that he was waiting for his partner to help him search my car. I then told him that I did have a little bit and gave him the baggie in my pocket which had only a gram or so. I pleaded to him to let me go as he had everything I had. He wouldn't budge. Then I remembered that my birthday is on the day after Christmas. I always hated having that birthday due to single gifts. He looks at my ID and says 'Holy shit! It is." He goes back to his car and a couple minutes later comes back to my window and gives me everything back, including the little baggie and says "Happy Birthday man and oh ya, nice car!" Phew, that was the best birthday gift I have ever received. Now I love that my birthday is on the day after Christmas. So sometimes, it may be better to show what you got. Especially if you have a lot more in the trunk of your car. Oh ya, this happened in San Francisco. I shipped that half pound with my shit when I moved to NYC. No problems!
I read something last year the the guys at DEFCON were already able to hack this. They should hire them as part of the development team.
When I used to edit videos for kiosks in Walmart and Toys R Us, I was given 2 samples of everything. It was great when I had a Nerf spot to do cause they sent me 2 of every product they made. It came in four 5 foot tall boxes. I'd have to say I spent more time making their ads jump out. I like bribery and so did my nieces and nephews.
@J0hnw: Thx, I'll check it out. Have you used it before?
Can anyone recommend a good HD media player under $150? They want $44 for shipping this. That's a third of what it costs.
This also applies to renters. My mom was renting a condo which went into foreclosure. She was offered $4K for vacating in a timely manner and leaving the place in decent condition. She made out pretty well in my opinion.
I've been buying spices at the local Mexican market. Way cheaper than any American grocery store and with more choices.
Hey, I also was shopping at a Jewel/Osco for some wine while visiting Chicago this past weekend. I also now live in Brooklyn.

Creepy!

Here's another good tip that's worked for me several times in the past when traveling solo.

If you get stuck with a middle seat, ask the agent at the counter to see if there are any 2 people with the same name that have the window and aisle seat on the same row. If so, ask for the middle seat between them. More likely they will offer you the aisle or window so they can sit together as mentioned above.

As I said, this has worked a few times for me. One time though the agent wouldn't look it up for me. Bitch!

I have to let my sister know about this so she can buy all new appliances. She's been informed that she's going to be laid off at the end of July.

I already told her to buy a Hyundai. They pay you and you get to keep the car for a year then return it. Free lease!

Isn't that a T-bird logo on the door panel?
I use a Logitech G5 on a clouded glass desk from Ikea and it wont track on it so I use a piece of leather as my mouse pad.

To you ppl who said they use the G5 on glass, how do you do it? Is there a setting or something? I also thought laser mice would track on any surface.

I would leave nothing inside my '79 Fiat Spyder, leave the doors unlocked so they don't slash the top...until I found a homeless man sleeping in it.

Best part is that he forgot his Members Only jacket in the back seat. Score!

ConvertXtoDVD has worked great for me. Windows Media Center also does a decent job but takes a little longer. If you're running Vista Home Premium, then WMC is built in.
I had a G1 a day before it was released. I tried to convince myself it was better than my iPhone. Then one moring, my iPhone beeps to tell me I have (G)mail and the G1 just sat there. I tested it using wifi and it was way slower than the iPhone. This POS phone was released way too early. It was just like my old Windows phone but cooler only cause it was running Android. Other than, the same POS. I returned it 3 days later!
