This would be actually a pretty awesome idea if the motor did not have wet liners (look at the LS's deck), and the displacement were expanded to 2.5L or so. Would make for a great platform to run bewst.
@Sam Iacullo:

That's what I get from browsing on a BB. Yeah I see the MAF is (why??) located by the exhaust heat shield with an open air filter (which looked like the cold side of a turbo). Stupid Setup.

Reminds me why I took out the preheat system from my car. Dead MAFs galore.
Did nobody else notice the motor pictured has been turbocharged?
@OldeEnglishD: The seats move back and to the sides, Boeing had ya on this un!
four thousand pounds? on an european compact? seriously??
what is even remotely ugly about this?? [www.ipdusa.com] #uglycars
mitsubishi pajero anyone? literally means wanker in spanish #carnames
@FP - Activity resumes!: Stock volvos are almost embarrassing to drive. Mine is turning into a quick, smooth, cheap and spacious raide. Giggity.
@Rotang: Wow, fail. To add insult to injury it seems like the BMW was pretty cherry, wouldn't you say?
It will buff out.

I really hope the poor 2002 gets a new lease of life, elderly drivers FTL.

@PotbellyJoe: I would bet anything that the Top Gear crew will play a huge joke on the Stig's identity. I would also not be surprised if Jalopnik were in for playing part of the joke as well? hmmmmmm?
Peru has fame of having the most dangerous roads in the world, not to mention some potholes that are big enough to swallow intercity bus wheels.

Within the developed world, NW 23rd avenue in portland takes the prize, it would break my back while my car had its squishy old stock volvo 244 suspension. with 250lb-ft springs and bilsteins i avoid it like nothing else. and the car is getting 18" wheels soon, let's see how long they last

@mrton:

I would have charged the council with vehicular theft, in all honesty, nanny states are completely ridiculous

@philibuster:

hehe they are called pegasus, and they are probably the most played out wheel in volvo circles for good reason

i have to say any BMW slammed on 17 or 18" BBS RS's are the hottest thing on earth

volvo virgos are my favorite small alloy wheel though ;]

Bulbous and with mismatched lines--it's HIDEOUS.at least it will be good fun to drive, I hope.

Also, 3.6L V6? Really? Come on.......

@Alfisted:

Somebody PLEASE sponsor them!

that's what Brits would call "bootlid," you tool =P
AND you can have it with a six-speed.
euro spec accord, so neither.
It was all awesome until I read up the engagement of the paddle shifters. squeeze to upshift, push to downshift? wtf, seriously? this is not a saturn effing aura. left paddle aqueeze for downshift, right for upshifts. two paddles with the same function are redundant and stupid, try any spirited driving with something like that.

a manual would have been nice too, grrrrrrr....
