By-the-mile tax is not just about revenue, it’s also about control. The best way to handle this issue is to let individual states figure out a workable process rather than some control freak in DC.
When I was a kid I became an expert at doing a complete 360° on my go-cart.
Here are the basic steps: 1. Head at nearly full speed toward a slippery surface* (like sand on a street) 2. Turn hard (full lock) to either direction just before the slippery surface. 3. Hit full power at the slippery surface or hit the rear brakes, you’ll have to experiment to see which works best to start the slide. 4. As your vehicle swaps ends, let off the brakes or reduce power while at the same time turning front wheels to opposite lock. (you want the rear wheels to hook up while traveling backwards and the front wheels to break free) 5. Straighten front wheels as the front end comes around and again apply full power.
*This can be done without a slippery surface, but increases the chance of a rollover, but it can be done. Be aware this is also a good way to flip a go-cart.
@K5ING: I don't think they need to follow the format exactly. If they were to do that, they may as well just Photoshop a bunch of American cars into the re-runs to save money.
I have watched Top Gear twice and the problem is this: the presenters strike me as a bunch of metrosexual wusses, the show needs some Hard-Charging, Politically-Incorrect, Manly-Men.
@TrackpediaCow: I think the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which was passed after the Civil War, is interpreted as taking the limits placed upon the federal government and putting those limits on state and local governments as well, that is why the city lost in court.
One time my father and uncle put up a sign in our yard warning of a speed trap about a ¼ mile down the road. The speed trap had been very profitable for the county until the sign went up. After about an hour one of our do-gooder neighbors noticed the sign and went and told the cop about it. The cop came flying into our yard in his cruiser and was extremely angry and asked who put that sign up. My dad said he did and there was nothing the county could do about it. The cop got in his car and left.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I guess those cops haven’t read this before, or even seem to know anything about it.
So you are saying this has been done before? But most of those people are giving the, " I bet you never seen anyone do this on film before" look, sort of like those people in a … never mind.
My guess is that they are just trying to show off their hard work.
@decece: Many older people in the US refer to blacks as "colored". In fact one time when my grandmother was taking care of me and my sister while my parents were away for a weekend was concerned about a few of my friends. She asked me if it was okay with my father that I had colored friends.
