I've probably lost over $20,000 buying beat up old cars, fixing them up badly and expensively only to lose it all when I got bored and sold them. '67 Mustang convertible - bought for $4K, spent $16K fixing it up, sold for $12K. '62 Lincoln - bought for $6K, spent $3K fixing it up, sold it for $6K. '66 Galaxie - bought for $2K, spent $9K fixing it up, sold it for $6K (quick sale). '69 Torino - bought for $5K, spent $20K(!) fixing it up, probably worth maybe $20K total, more like $15K."
