Had a few near misses very similar to this on my bike, I think the sign of a dyed in the wool biker is how they shrug off/laugh about how close they were to death... I've found myself giggling like a maniac after near misses recently. Some might call it madness... They're probably right.
Yeah, I was thinking the same, though in our lovely "city" my street actually has cobblestones poking through the tarmac as it seems we can't afford to resurface any of the roads. Though I do admit, Europe (as in that continent we're adjacent to) does seem to have road surfacing very much sorted!
