Sometimes I wish I could "favorite" comments. This is one of those times.
It's later, and I'm giving many thanks. You, sir, win at everything.
You're not the only one. First thing I did on the 458 configurator was cream paint, saddleback (or whatever you call it) interior, dark wheels, red calipers. Uhnf, what a gorgeous and clean color scheme...
I agree especially with your last paragraph, if only because a replacement screen off Amazon is under $20. Paying $100/mo for service, but unwilling to skip Starbucks for a few days?

(Yes, that's a gross generalization of iOS users. Bite me.)

Signed,
delta5, an Apple fanboy who spends $30/week on coffee at various places, including Starbucks.

Yeah, just like those plebes with their silly car insurance. If you can't pay out of pocket for any accidents, you obviously can't afford a car.

*goes back to cutting $100 bills into snowflakes*

(Apologies if this double posts, Nibbles has been at the absinthe again.)

It's a classic car junkyard. I've been meaning to pull off the highway and find the place for years. Used to have 2 Jag E-types, rusting by the fence.

Ah, Ernest Hemingway, I drink to thee. I use that line with ball-sport fans all the time.
I didn't actually see Magnetism's comment, but I get the idea that Jesus was justified there. I was just talking about his (Jesus') response to the original post.)
While I love your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter, 2 points. Airbags are mandated by law here in the US, and I swear I read somewhere about a car built "for racing" with power windows because they were lighter. (cable/pulley/motor vs. scissorlift and movement band.)

Also, check out the NSX-R seats. Carbon/kevlar, ultralight, AND powered adjust! Way too expensive for the real world, but a guy can dream...
1- EXTREMELY deformed. Possibly mutant.
2- The small rings in a straight line underneath? Tower, on top of which was the bomb. Supposed to simulate the air-burst from a dropped bomb.

(Damn, Jesus, you're my favorite Giz writer, but you don't have to be quite THAT harsh!)
Lol'd at first, then thought of Le Mans, 1955. Hope this guy does it in the desert!
I'll be damned. Just tried the touchdown thing with my 2 week old, worked like a charm! Much thanks!
NP, though I'd molest it just a little bit more... Perrin (Subie tuners) once put a turbo on one of these, just for the hell of it, and I fell in love with the idea.

(hey look, a link! [blog.perrinperformance.com] )

Also, <3 for the WW reference, never expected to see that here!
Beat me to it. First time I saw this was on the Icon blog.
Does anyone ACTUALLY suck though? I feel accomplished if I managed to keep it out of the snow all day!

Note: there IS always one guy who makes everyone else look like they suck. Usually driving an old, rusted-out Civic Si hatch or original Beetle...
Mais oui! There are also races on Lake Sinissippi, which is far closer, but they're far more strict there. The attitude is closer to SCCA Spec Miata than run what you brung. If you make it out to Lake Winnebago, look for the jackasses in the black mostly-debadged '05 STi with big red "TOW" stickers on the bumpers.
It is! Feels like: 100mph. Speedo says: 80. Actual speed: 40! These races are held in Neenah, Wisconsin, but they're all over the northern states. Definitely check some out, if you can!
Tried these on at Interbike (cycling industry trade show) this year. Very distracting, it's just a tiny screen that's right in the corner of your vision. I wouldn't want to be trying to focus any high speed tasks with that thing turned on. I'm looking forward to something more HUD-like, where it actually projects data onto the lens, a concept that just feels less obtrusive to me.
@Matt_Hardigree (Will that work to respond to a "too short" comment?")

Pretty much DOT helmet only. It's pretty laid back, so no real tech inspection, but the organizers are on the ball. If your car's dangerous, or you are, they'll have a chat with you, then politely send you home if you don't do something about it.

Being that it's on a frozen lake, there's really nothing to hit but cones and snow. Easily the safest hooning I've ever done. Actually, probably safer than doing 55 in your own lane on the Kennedy on a Friday night...
For those interested, here's the blue Subie on youtube.
