@Tossed Pissed Mazda3hatch sideways: The Elise is actually right around 2,000 pounds curb weight! And that's even the US federalized one. It's one seriously light car.
@Mac: Yes yes yes! I had Blizzaks on my '99 Miata and it was a blast in heavy snow. Took a little concentration to keep it going straight while accelerating, but it turned and stopped just great. Plus oversteer is fun.

When you think of classics, do you think of the completely unstoppable 1980 Corolla or the Ferrari breadvan that requires an engine rebuild after a few thousand miles?
