I already have a PS3, but it probably be the nail in LIVE's coffin for me. I just don't think its worth $50 a year. But then I only play online with a few of my friends. I'm not really much of an online player.
There is a fundamental fallacy with the argument that fraud and theft translate into higher prices for honest consumers. This is simply not true because in any capitalist system, the seller charges as much as they think they can for an item and the consumer pays as little as they can for an item. If the store thought they could sell a widget for $20, there is no reason they would be selling it for $15.
It certainly seemed like the car dealers are taking advantage of the increased demand. All the cars that qualified at the dealerships we looked at were over invoice with options and the dealers would not budge on price, pretty much wiping out the incentive. Too bad, it seemed like a good program. Maybe in a month or two when demand dies down they will be more reasonable.
Freedom of speech guarantees you can say something. It was never intended to mean you are guaranteed to GET PAID to say something. Glenn Beck, if he is fired, can continue to say whatever he wants for free from his porch.
@kftgr: Gamestop is also always exactly 10% off new for used, so if the game sells new for $59.99, it is used for $54.99. If it sells new for $19.99, it sells used for $17.99. Thats also probably why best buy can do this. Used games aren't much of a discount at all.
Thats easy to fix. As long as it is in fact the same exact unit, buy it today at Walmart and order it for store pickup and make sure you keep the store receipt. Keep the one you bought in the store and return the one you ordered online to the physical store with the receipt from the store purchase to get the higher price refunded. If everyone does this maybe they will pricematch to avoid losing money on double orders.
This is not a discovery. My car insurance salesperson had a card from State Farm or Farmers that let him do this 15 years ago. I was a little surprised then, but it is nothing new, certainly. I hope this wasn't a government funded grant.
Same house, same stocks in the same company. No wealth lost there. There is some very fishy accounting going on here. I guess if I was a day trader or a house flipper it would suck.
