I was thinking the same thing! Jalopnik has done nothing with this article, except further prove that they are nothing more than the TMZ of the auto news world. But sadly, Wert is still nowhere near as cool as Harvey Levin.
Sorry, but that watch does not even come CLOSE to saying: "Hey, I'm worth forty grand!"
I would rather have a Rolex Daytona, at nearly half the price...plus, I would have the satisfaction that I'm NOT supporting the fruits of an ass-clown like Bernie Ecclestone.
Finally, a 60 Minutes segment that didn't make me want to light my own face on fire!!! Usually, I would much rather hump a bale of razor wire, than force myself through their extreme liberal horse-shit. I have to give credit where credit is due.
@Travis Gohr: "So you're telling me pro racers should know how to rebuild the engines on their cars? Come on now..."
It depends. Are you referring to "pro racers" like, drag racers? Most of them do know how to rebuild the engines on their cars. Matter of fact, most "pro racers" have enough knowledge to do that. I think that you might be forgetting that "pro racers" usually start out as amateur racers with no crew, or sponsors to take care of the details.
When I first read the heading "How a 'Tuner' Totaled..." I got really pissed. My first mental picture was of some backwards hat-wearing peckerwood with a riced out Civic blowing through a red light, and causing the GT to get wrecked. Instead, it was some asshat business-owner that doesn't know the rules of owning a business.
This is exactly why you check credentials before sending a $200,000 car to be tuned by a guy calling himself "Shadowman." The name in and of itself sounds rather shady. This poor guy just learned a lesson the expensive way. Too bad, I adore the Gulf livery GT, and respectfully, if some yahoo was going to "tune" it for me...I would be there for every turn of the wrench to oversee the matter.
