The 6.1 Charger is a sweet ride, and I'm glad I have the choice to buy this car- what, you want to go back to 1974?

Only the truly ignorant would be a snob about this ride....

<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on 2008 Shelby GT500KR Hits The Dyno, Gets 50 More Horses Than Ford Claims]]> Ya, dunno about that- the revised SAE standards that went into effect two years ago, I believe, are pretty accurate- no real "fudge factors" allowed anymore.

Still, a sweet ride- gonna be worth every penny of the $42K they'll be asking for the used ones next year.....

<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on State Farm: This 1963 Chrysler Newport Is Not An Antique, Unless You Give It A Fresh Coat Of Paint. What?]]> Not insane; State Farm has just caught on to the scam of too many people licensing junk cars as "antique" to score the lower insurance rates-

It's not about legitimate antique cases- it's about cheap bastards trying to save a buck on their car insurance- a 45 yr old piece of shit has just as much liability hitting a motorcycle as a new Bimmer;

Unless they can factually document the usage of the car under the SPELLED OUT insurance guidelines for antique cars, pay up, sucker.

No, global warming is a lie because there is simply no empirical scientific evidence to support the premise;

<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on GM To Get More Layoffs, Lose A Brand]]> The bankruptcy court will be telling GM what they can and can't keep during the Ch 11 reorg.....

Saturn? Please- shitcan this legacy of The Roger Smith Era, once and for all....

GMC- Department of Redundancy Department- their heavy truck marque carries no intrinsic value, can rebadge everything as "Chevy" and be done with the division.

Pontiac- they're just recycling Chevy projects anyway, there is no reason not to merge the division into the Chevy branch.

85% of GM white-collar workforce- buh bye, along with lifetime pension and healthcare expenses- roll out everyone into a 401K, see ya later have a nice life.

]]>
<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on Merrill Lynch: GM Bankruptcy Is "Not An Impossibility," Stock Price Plummets]]> Well, by definition, Chapter 11 is not "the end of the line"; What GM needs to do to survive is to find relief from the legacy expenses racked up by the last generation of the UAW. Absorbing spiraling health care costs for a worker who is 20+ yrs retired just isn't good business, and as sad as it will be for the numerous ex-GM workers, the reality is that either GM restructures itself, or it's US Steel all over again.

It's called "whistling past the grave yard".

Nothing improves at GM until Chapter 11.

<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on David E. Davis Smacks Max Mosley Across The Mouth, Mosley Enjoys It]]> Agreed- beyond all the furor, the bottom line is that Max has pretty much sucked at his jobs for quite some time- no vision, and no real grasp of the direction that F1 should take;

When the FIA becomes a non-factor thanks to a new breakoff series that the major manufacturers almost HAVE to commit to now (or else be viewed as supportive of Nazi Maxi to the vast consumer who doesn't really care about F1, but can make the superficial association of Nazi-Max-F1), perhaps the minions will wake up-

Already too late, tho- F1 is growing less interesting by the day....

"student of history"?

If that's the case, you're flunking most of the 21st Century.

No one HAS EVER or WILL ever put "oil wells in national parks"- that sort of imbecilic alarmism is what spawned the fraud "An Inconvenient Truth", and is primarily responsible for why we haven't tapped readily available domestic reserves that WOULD BE NO THREAT TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

Today's technology IS a wonderful thing, try reading up on it a bit... Try using this here internet thang.....

Current oil prices are a result of trading practices- this is MY job, and it's been no big mystery as to WHY oil prices are in a bubble, and it's NOT that there has been some giant spike in the CONSUMER demand of oil- it's because demand for continously minted oil contracts require an underlying basis of oil in which to trade.

What or how you drive will have NO effect on the price of oil for the next two years- NONE. Regardless of what happens to the consumer demand of oil, it will take two years to work thru the current locked-in contracts on oil.

Go eat some tree bark, give a polar bear a new home in your back yard......

Umm, yeah- heard the same pep talk at US Steel circa 1982....

These are superficial cuts, and show a distinct lack of touch with reality.

If US GDP were to improve substantially these next few years, the plan Ford lays out here might have a chance....

Unfortunately, it has NO chance of success in the forthcoming crippled economy;

The demise of The Ford Motor Company will ultimately be one of the earmarks of this era- the failure to sufficiently act in signs of demise is what Ford fails to grasp here.

Very sad.

<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on Ford To Slash Up To 12% Of White-Collar Jobs?]]> @rlj676:

Hmm... starting to see the problem, given that you're able to spend your work day posting here, rather than building interesting cars to sell.....

Morale? Since when does ANY employer have a responsibility for individual morale? Here's a tip from MY management school- build a product that people want to buy, sell a lot of it, MAKE A REAL PROFIT, and watch morale MAGICALLY improve!

If you're getting mired down in trivial issues such as "morale", then seriously, dude- time to move on to the next gig, because as an employee, you've gone past the point of no return.

Blogging on here about your shitty attitude and whining about minimal pay raises in light of BILLIONS being written off by Ford isn't exactly seeing the big picture.......

This is why Ford won't improve anytime soon, and why the common stock WILL go to zero- the sense of entitlement starts with the Ford family, and works its way down thru management. This problem will ONLY be rectified with a WHOLESALE change in Ford management- not 12%, not 50%, but an absolute cleaning of house;

Once the Ford family comes to terms with the reality that their dividend checks are gone for good, this company is for sale- and frankly, it will be the best possible solution for Ford, long-term.

]]>
<![CDATA[cazin678 commented on Ford To Slash Up To 12% Of White-Collar Jobs?]]> @Ray Wert:

Yep- Ford isn't running a charity, and frankly, if you're in management and haven't seen this coming, then it's time to take your little red stapler and head for the beach.

12% is just the first wave; Ford can go 50% deep if they have to and not lose much brain matter.

Earlier post made an excellent point- the failure to update certain key models such as the Towncar is a classic recipe for failure of a corporation; Just take a look at every failed mark in automotive history for a similar story.

Cutting back 12% of management? WHAT management?

Basically, it's the still-born Maserati that was on the board from 5 yrs ago. Very lazy, Ferrari.

LOL- "flat crank" is nothing special by itself- for racing, it made the exhaust pipe tuning a bit easier to fabricate, but the downside are some harmonics you don't get with a 360 crank.

Time for Ferrari to make some pretty cars again- been awhile.....
