You know, just to class it up a bit.

Good to know it's possible.

Cameron Tredici commented on 1967 Firebird Wears A Coat Of Orange Blossoms In West Hollywood This Firebird seems to have been completely restored and just left on the street! I mean, the tires still have their new tire tread markings on 'em.

I do hope someone gives that car a good home where it can play in the orange flower petals and autumn leaves. That would be cool.

Cameron Tredici commented on Patriotism, Swamp Style Patriotic and sponsored by Jesus? Definitely an all-American ride. Bonus points for the front wheels, which seem to be to double as pizza cutters for after the race... once you hose off the swamp, that is.

Also: I have a better photo for Chrycerberus tanking, as that minivan crash doesn't seem quite brutal enough for the percentage drop...

Cameron Tredici commented on There's Hope For Today's Teens… Sorta I once watched The N, back when they aired reruns of "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" and the horrendously butchered version of "Daria." Once those two went away, I never went back.

"Alternatives"? I think someone watched that one episode of Daria where The Fashion Club dress "alternatively" to attend a Lollapalooza-like fest--which they ended up not attending due to Brittany's signal that an outlet mall was along the way--one time too many.

Either that or they though they were Val. Whatever.

Cameron Tredici commented on The 'Real' Ron Burgundy Passes Away @Gaambit & @Triborough: Since y'all are talking about newscast opening theme music, let me direct you two and everyone else still reading this to SouthernMedia's News Music Search Archive.

Just enter the call letters of your television station and if there's a TV screen button to click, you'll be able to hear the theme song they used for that time period; you can also see who else used the song.

I found this at work one day, btw; I work for VMS.

Cameron Tredici commented on Transformers "Corvette Concept," "Z28" Bumblebee Get A Close-Up That Corvette Concept looks like a mash-up of a C3 and a C4 with a bit of Godzilla mixed in. Cameron Tredici commented on Hey You! What Did You Spend Your Stimulus Check On? @onesong: Oooh... Aprilia? Vespa? Honda?

At the rate fuel prices are going, I'm either going to have to find a 30+-year-old Japanese car or roll out on a Kawasaki Vulcan. Maybe both.

Cameron Tredici commented on Hey You! What Did You Spend Your Stimulus Check On? I took my normal IRS refund and my stimulus check to a mattress store and bought my first bed in a very long time. Went across the street to Mall of St. Matthews and bought a 1000 TC sheet set on sale at JC Penney. Then I dropped by Sears in the nearby Oxmoor Mall the next day and bought pillows when they had a 2-for-1 sale on most items in the store, as well as coverlet. Now I just need a real wood headboard and the rest of my bedding, and I'll have a complete bed.

Oh, my bed? Miralux, queen, firm, retails at $900, on sale for $500.

If there's a second stimulus package, I'm getting a couch.

Cameron Tredici commented on AutoNation CEO Says High Gas Prices Are Good For You, Automakers @dculberson: I, too, have had to move close to work, but not because I was trying to save fuel. On the contrary, it was because the mass transit in Louisville sucks unless you live downtown... which is not where my employer is.

In fact, TARC (Transit Authority of River City, aka the transit authority of Louisville Metro) is actually raising rates and cutting back service due to fuel prices, even cutting out completely their Night Owl service, where five buses rolled out at 11:30 PM nightly to get people to and from places of employment like Riverport Industrial Park, GE, and the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant.

Of course, I've been spoiled by Tacoma, Washington's Pierce Transit, and the transit systems of Western Washington in general, what with their CNG buses, hub-and-spoke transit centers, near-24 hour service, light rail, commuter rail, etc. etc. etc. TARC doesn't really have any of that, and I guess it's showing.

Hope springs eternal.

Cameron Tredici commented on Nobody Cares About Perez Hilton Is This Happening (nice name for the website, btw)? Why, yes it is happening, Perez. Your empire is on fire and there's nothing that can be done about it... or will. Serves you right for calling Adam Sandler's two-year old daughter ugly and fat.

Now, how long before he takes some .50 caliber aspirin and becomes an hero? I'll say two more months before the IRL Epic Fail Guy bites it.

Cameron Tredici commented on Daria Takes Aim At Jane Magazine @mondo-distracto: Michael Jordan MacKenzie, whose middle name was James until his father went to a Chicago Bulls playoff when he was 12 and changed it.

I just remembered: Ms. Barch and Mr. O'Neill. One hated all men with a passion thanks to a messy divorce, the other was a New Age sensitive man to the point of being a doormat. Put 'em together--which did happen--and you might have one of the more balanced couples on the show, period.

And Mr. DeMartino: The most metal teacher ever, especially when he grabbed a sink and threw it through a window to free the little kids from whatever Mr. O'Neill was doing to them at that summer camp of his.

Cameron Tredici commented on Daria Takes Aim At Jane Magazine @ScarletBegonias: Ya know... who needs DVDs? As Homer Simpson might say, "Web 2.0 the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems."

And "Mart of Darkness" is one of my fave eps of all time, so thank you for finding that site.

Cameron Tredici commented on Daria Takes Aim At Jane Magazine @mjane79: You read it, I wrote some of it back when the show was still on the air, none of it at FanFiction.net. One of them was even a return appearance of Val, who ended up getting a verbal (and almost physical) smackdown by the non-canon characters I created.

Didn't really go far with the fan fic writing, though. Just lost interest.

Cameron Tredici commented on Daria Takes Aim At Jane Magazine @ceejeemcbeegee: Never had a thing for the guys, but I really, really, really thought Steel Hart from Silverhawks was sexy; I think I was 10 (?) at the time.

Cameron Tredici commented on Daria Takes Aim At Jane Magazine @Agrado: Don't forget this classic:

You're an angel in black
You sure got the knack
To put my heart on the shelf in the back
Oh, where do I turn
Oh, when will I learn
My poor heart, you're giving it freezer burn
Yeahhh...

I followed Daria from the first episode in March 1997 to the last movie in January 2001 and am all the better for it. I even had the two books that came out that gave out even more details about her and her surroundings, and was disappointed when The N started butchering episodes left and right, if they aired them at all.

And Quinn grew on me, too, while Kevin proved that he may be better than the last two idiots Daria went to school with, but he's still just as stupid.

And anything involving Jane was always awesome, especially the one time she paired up with Brittany for a economics project involving buying a car, or when Quinn came over to Jane's house because she was bored with her friends in the Fashion Club. Good times.

May Daria turn up on DVD unedited very soon.

Cameron Tredici commented on Exile In Guyville: Did Liz Phair Predict Your Life? Or Did She Actually Dictate It? I don't exactly remember when I first heard Ms. Phair's music, but I do know it was during my slow transition from metal to alternative during my years in high school. "Never Said," "Whip-Smart," "Supernova," "Polyester Bride"... those were great songs.

That said, I don't think I can listen to her pop albums; I need some grit and/or quirk in my pop music before I can turn it on.

In closing, do you wanna find alligator boots they just put on sale?

Cameron Tredici commented on Are We Entering A New Malaise Era? DustyButt: Well, until the day of the cheap high-torque-at-low-rpm electric car comes, I'll be listening to this song every time I pass a gas station... on foot, mostly:

I have the movie "Dick" to blame for my association of this song with the Malaise Era of yesteryear and today. Good thing I actually like the song, though. Good thing indeed.

Cameron Tredici commented on The Cars Of Death Race You know, if we had these, the Dakar Rally would've happened this year instead of being canceled, then relocated. The Dreadnaught alone would killed a whole bunch of terrorists just by showing up, making for a smooth rally.

At least there's hope for next year. Go Team Dreadnaught!

PS - Would love to borrow Frankenstein's ride for my upcoming high school reunion, just so you know.
